Take an example from LSU 03'... (besides winning the championship) and realize that when you lose that much existing talent like clayton,mauck,henderson,lavalais... youre bound to have a rough season the next season. thats just facts. Anytime there is a Big time starting quarterback change, the next season (almost) always is more difficult.
last year who woulda thought losing torbor, mcneil, thomas and dansby wouldn't have caused them to lose a game or two? I surely believed their defense would not be able to replace them but they played well as proven in their record. bottom line is when LSU loses key players we see the ones who replace them and their potential. we do not see other school's recruits to realize they can replace theirs as well. its just a matter of who steps up and fills their holes the best. AU did an excellent job of that last year. they may surprise again this year, although their offense will go down at least one notch regardless but maybe their d can hold their own til they develop an identity.
I couldn't agree more. We will have a definate drop off, and I don't think I ever argued against that. I am sure we will lose a few games this year, and miss the senior leadership. But as in your example, LSU only lost 3 games the next year. I can see Auburn doing the same thing. (Going 9-2, 8-3). That just doesn't put us behind Ole Miss, as some posters have stated. That is what I was arguing against.
Well I can't complain. I predicted we would have a drop-off, but not a huge one and finish the season 9-2 or 8-3. Turns out we are 9-2 with a chance at a 10 win season in the bowls. And were one overtime away from going back to Atlanta. It's been a good season.
Same as us last year. Ref gave you a second chance Even though I hate Auburn, I'd rather see these types of games than the 31-7's of 2002 and 2003.
Even though we predicted that Tennessee was going to be overrated, not many saw their team being this bad.
