I've had family members who were in unions, and I know how
it works. I've seen how brainwashed they can be...the standard
line is "Democrat good...Republican bad"...whether it's true or not. And why? Because the Dems have had the leaders of big labor in their pockets since time immemorial. And God forbid a Teamster or any other unionist should dare to think for himself and possibly go against what the labor bosses have put down as the party line.

Unions are all about standing together and thinking alike...that's
why, my friend, I feel that you have very little room to call anybody else a drone until you can think for yourself, and not the way the head of your local tells you to.

Mike the Tiger, did you know that over 300,000 Frenchmen were killed or wounded in the Battle of France in 1940?

    Just curious.

"Political language -- and with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists -- is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable." --George Orwell

    I just enjoy this quote.

Like I said,, Gman, tell me what you KNOW. It's obvcious from that reply you don't KNOW anything other than the crap all good businessmen tell their employes to keep the union at bay.
I was in the Teamsters for 15 years and no one ever TOLD me what to do or how to vote. My DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES bargained for me and made recommendations, but I voted my conscience on all issues including contracts and strikes.
Granted, you have in the union, as on this board, some mindless drones who are incapable of thinking for themselves, who do just as you say and follow blindly along. But for the most part, union members are intelligent and independent people capable of taking information and making up their own mind.
I am the union, not the leaders of the union I choose to represent me in negotiations with my employer. By myself, I have no power over what happens to me in the workplace,, but together with my fellow employees, we make a force to be reckoned with and we can have some say in how things are done. We have a say in workplace safety, equpment and other things necessary for the performance of our duties. We have job security in that we don't have to worry about the boss replacing us with his brother in law or such. We are able to negotiate a living wage and decent benefits, not just the pittance the company would give us otherwise.
People like you amuse me. If you make a decent wage, have a paid vacation and health care, paid holidays a safe place to work, workmans comp if you get hurt, a pension and a forty hour work week with overtime, you can thank the unions for it. You think all that came about because of the kind hearted generosity of big business? I got a bridge over the Mississippi I'll sell you! You got that because of the unions my friend and the threat of the unions.
Because of the Teamsters I made a better living than many of you college educated boys. I have a good pension and when I worked, I worked when I wanted, the hours I wanted to work, the days I wanted to work. Because of the Teamsters, my employer was as answerable to me as I was to them. I had rights and the company was expected to respect them same as I was expected to respect theirs. I never worked harder than when I was in the union and never more proud of my work and never wanted more to see my employer make money. Because I knew if they were profitable,so would I.
So don't come here with this drivel and crap, ok. Cause I am the last person to want to hear it!

I'm waiting for CB to read that quote and accuse me of following a liar and being a hypocrite, because I said Bush never lied to us.
