The problem with that is you are violating the rights of others for your existence. You foster a society where human rights/property rights is not respected, where eventually your rights may be trampled--so out of rational self-interest, you respect the rights and property of others. Bascially, "do onto others..."

If a cheeseburger were seriously detrimental to your health, it would be immoral to eat it. But that's on the light, nitpicky part of the scale, Hume's papermache wrecking ball..

Also, drinking to excess implied injuring your body, as i said when i described moderate drinking as not. If you don't injure your body, and will not violate anyone else's rights while being intoxicated, that is not immoral, but this is trivial crap too.

Again, you are using a criteria on which to base this moral stance that is completely subjective. If this stance were fact, rather than opinion, you could point to a definite quantity of alcoholic concentration in the bloodstream that constitutes the injuring of one's body.

    Actually, no.

We don't need to be told by God in every situation what is right or wrong.

Man was created (or evolved, for sake of argument) with a conscience. Even children with basically no societal training have rudimentary consciences about intrinsic rights and wrongs.

Good assumption. It was either that or ROTC. Most engineers don't take that because it involves actual work though... I really enjoyed it. A friend of mine from BRHS made an F on his first paper and dropped the class. He ended up taking three more years to graduate than I :D

You can either take that away from the class or gain more disdain from the contemporary sophists for not having much moral or ethical conviction whatsoever as I did. :hihi:

yeah thats true, you never see toddlers raping or insider trading.

i guess i am working against my intrinsic moral nature when i favor things like abortion, drugs, premarital sex, stealing, gambling, insane drinking and all sorts of immoral acts. i think i broke the conscience and morality controlling part of my brain. and also my jesus receptor is busted. my idea of right and wrong is all aimless and screwy. i cant find my copy of the absolute morals list. i guess i could just ask you what is right and wrong.

i'd venture to say 6 of those are more detrimental than 6 beers to most.
