IMO, this is due to the new defensive coaching staff and their philosophy of using less substitutions and nickel package. It's probably what's best for all involved.
Phelon's dad coaches football in Mobile from what I understand and one of the main reasons for Auburn as his destination. Classy family and hope everything works out for him.
I thought he may gain a starting CB spot next year after Hawkins left. If not next year then maybe he could have started as a senior. He would only be a junior next year and he seemed to do fairly well when he gained playing time. Therefore I am sad to see him go. Am I missing something? Do you think he would never have a chance to gain a starting role, even as a nickel back?
sometimes btwn being away from family and being buried on the depth chart it just doesn't work out. good luck to him...even at auburn.
If Miles is smart he will never agree to him transferring to another SEC team.especially a western div. rival. Either way he will have to sit out a year unless he goes division 2.
He may have had a chance at CB, but he probably saw the writing on the wall with Brandon Taylor, and we won't be playing with a nickel back often under the new DC.
