Anyone hear Coach Mainieri speak about the 2020 Tigers yesterday. We’re loaded at pitcher with a few new lefties! Coach Speak: Friday night Cole Henry is an All-American, another Alex Lange. AJ Labas and Landon Marceaux will battle it out for Saturday starter. That’s our Top 3 with over a dozen waiting after them. midweek game starter looks to be Eric Walker. Hotshot relievers are Jaden Hill and Nick Storz and Hill has the best arm of any of our pitchers. A loaded bullpen has MaKhail Hilliard, Trent Vietmeier, Mathew Beck, & Devin Fontenot. Coach Mainieri gave out the lineup with key Spring battles coming for 11th ranked Tigers LF: Drew Bianco, Wes Toups CF: Gio DiGiacomo, Mo Hampton RF: Daniel Cabrera 1B: Cade Beloso 2B: Cade Doughty, Gavin Dugas SS: Hal Hughes, Collier Cranford 3B: Zach Mathis, Cade Doughty C: Garza, Alex Milazzo, Hayden Travinski https://lsusports.net/sports/baseball/schedule/2020 Feb 14 weekend opens the season. Feb 28 weekend in Houston facing Texas, Baylor (Sat) and Oklahoma (Sun). March 20 is the first test against #6 MSU when they come to the Box. LSU could be 20-2 or better when that big weekend comes
It's not out of the cards to see Fontenot get a Sunday start. Well see. Mo is gonna be a force, but he has some work to do. He said at the plate, the ball still looks like a golf ball. Maybe by SEC play? Last time we had a football champ play baseball.... A metric ton of question marks at the plate tho. Gonna be an interesting season
Going to be a good year. Expecting to see our bats come alive now that we have a legit hitting coach.
Considering most of the starters we have were from that #1 recruiting class 2 years ago I don’t see why not. A good bit of seasoned talent. Marceaux should be the guy this year and sure you lose Josh Smith and Duplantis but you keep Cabrera and Cade Beloso. Only question mark is who’s going to be your starting short stop?
LSU has gone to wearing compression sleeves along with most minor league clubs. https://www.motusglobal.com/compression-sleeve Dunn won’t ruin any more arms.
Hal Hughes is the tentative leader as of now. I would rather see somebody who cab at least hit for high average at the spot, We have gotten spoiled by the parade of Austin Nola, Bregman, Robertson and Smith. Hal Hughes is the tentative starter as of now. Would rather see somebody who can hit the ball. We have gotten spoiled at the position by the succession of Austin Nola, Bregman, Robertson and Smith.
