the metropolitans now have the best record in the national league. the braves are below .500. the braves are done. glavine is the only 9 game winner in baseball.

you should now go ahead and sing along:

    MEET THE METS,
    MEET THE METS,
Step right up and greet the Mets!
    Bring your kiddies,
    bring your wife;
Guaranteed to have the time of your life
because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!
    East side,
    West side,
    everybody’d coming down
to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town!

Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
Oh, they’re hollerin’ and cheerin’ and they’re jumpin’ in their seats,
where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
All the fans are tru to the orange and blue,
so hurry up and come on down -
‘cause we’ve got ourselves a ball club,
The Mets of New York town!
    Give ‘em a yell!
    Give ‘em a hand!
And let ‘em know your rootin’ in the stand!

if you dont like the 1960's version, you may also sing the 80's version:

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
head for the park and greet the Mets.
Hot dogs, green grass, all out at Shea.
Guaranteed to have a heck of a day
because the Mets are really rockin that ball,
hittin those homeruns over the wall.
Long Island. New Jersey. Brooklyn, Queens, Uptown and down.
    Let's Go Mets!
Thats the cheer out of a New York town

    I like the 90s version...

Meet the Mets, they're our pets
We have them on a leash
Lay your bets, but not on those Mets
b/c those Braves will just not cease
Meet the Mets, they live in the ditch
    and don't you ever forget
    they're ATL's little bitch! :hihi:

The Mets are playing very good ball right now and the Braves are going backwards. It's still early, but Scherholz needs to make some changes b/c there's no way they will contend by doing the same things just thinking things will turn around on there own.

Glad to read that... Sitting in upper deck down the third base line in corner for the St. Louis series in early June. Section 406 I believe. Gonna be the worst seats in the place but we'll have fun!

Martin, you're a good sport and the way its going right now it is getting worse. Braves lost and the Mets are winning. Sooner or later the "streak" will end. I'm not giving up on them but the way it looks, you might be right. I think if the Braves can at least keep it close, the two teams still have 9 games between them. It was incredible what the Astros did in the second half last year. Who knows...the Braves might get hot and the others go south.

    Stay tuned...

like the yankees with jeter/posada/williams, and the braves with glavine/smoltz/maddux/jones (x2), the mets have assembled a core of players that will keep them on top for years. the core is beltran/wright/reyes/milledge. with a little bit of pitching, the mets will take the braves' place as kings of the east for the forseeable future. as pedro and glavine fade, they will be replaced by top draft picks phil humber and mike pelfrey, and the back of the rotation will be a mishmosh of serviceable chumps.

    dynasty.

prediction: the mets will trade cliff floyd. maybe to detroit. floyd is in the last year of his contract and is expendable because of milledge.

prediction #2: jeff francoeur really isnt that good.

you gentlemen from baton rouge, you dont have to be brave fans just because you get TBS. you should go ahead and switch loyalties to the metropolitans. they are perfect, they play old-school national league ball. they run and steal and bunt and pitch.

Any thoughts about the Jason Grimsley story? Pujols being linked to roids via Chris Mihlfeld. I know when someone starts going off of HRs, whether it's fair or not, some will start associating him with juicing up.

ok, who do you all feel are the biggest disappointments this year in MLB?

mine are Randy Johnson and Mark Texiera in the AL. Chris Carpenter comes to mind in the NL.

prediction 1: Martin is so much of a homer it is pathetic

Prediction 2: yeah, the braves are pretty much done, but it has nothing to do with francoeur

tonight the cuban soler dominated the dbacks, 2 hit complete game shutout. the back of the rotation is comiong on strong, el duque threw a shutout earlier this week. the bullpen got some rest and the formerly weak 4 and 5 pitchers looked awesome.

the mets are rock solid top to bottom.

i watched that game... it was a gem...

    beautiful game

and i'm not taking anything from what they doing, b/c they far and away better than anyone in the NL right now, but this isn't the same D-Back team with the whole Grimsley scandal
