interesting that a Red Sox fan who experienced a comeback from 3-0 down is giving up. The Rays have to beat Dice-K, Beckett and Lester. Granted, the odds are good that they get one of those 3. but it's not towel waving time yet.
not giving up yet, but I ain't delusional enough to deny what's looking more and more inevitable every inning. Boston has to hit the ball. Sure giving up an arse load of runs isn't exactly helping, but the middle of the order hasn't gotten the memo that the season ain't over yet. If any team CAN comeback from down 3-1, it's these guys. But really, doing it a 3rd time in 5 years is asking a lot. You play with fire often enough, you @$$ gets burnt.
Tampa is too solid a team to beat at this point 3 times in a row. The task is past daunting. I gotta admit I wish it was Kazmir in game 5 and Shields in game 6. Shields at home is deadly. Dice K should beat Shields in game 5. Then you gotta wonder how Kazmir will do. If he can give 5 solid innings of 2 earnies, we're golden. Beckett will get beat up once again.
i emailed joe maddon last night about this and Ill be damned if he didnt listen. thats why hes manager of the year.
I love Maddon's spin on it. Bottom line, he see's Beckett vs Shields at the Trop and sees a big fatass 'W'. Great move. Takes balls to shake up your rotation like that and I don't remember seeing that ever being done. Maddon "gets it".
maddon is the phil jackson of baseball managers. he comes across as some weird, anything but a baseball coach dude/off the wall type. and it works.
playing with fire picking on one of the most clutch pitchers of our era. But I don't even think it gets that far. I can see Kazmir getting back to his old form in a game he is kinda/sorta expected to lose in.
