Again you totally miss the boat and I am not surprised. Mullen didn't get punked he ran up against a far superior team. You're right for once, maybe the best D ever. But what does that have to do with predictable play calling? You can be conservative yet not predictable, you know that right? It's unrealistic to go with the hot hand and the best QB performance we have seen in years? Are you serious?
So you speak from both sides of your mouth. You are either concerned about who's ranked where or you don't. The game should have been a blow out. YOU may disagree. Hell, Miles may disagree. I don't think someone learned in the game would disagree... The pieces are all there (well, the QB isn't tested but he looked good tonight and that INT could be a miscommunication with the WR...) and only 13 point differential on a team the Defense effectively corralled. MS State is a sled of a team; one dimensional. I could have called better plays then I saw tonight. And you know what? You would have been singing like a bird on "how great the Tigers looked tonight." And I would agree. Play Action pass deep since the run was established in the 4th Quarter. And if we were destroying them all night with passing then guess what? Draw Plays. And if their defense was overcommitting to runs to the outside (something we need to be cognizant of due to the athtletic ability and aggression), Counter runs. I don't think you understand the strategy aspects of the game. One should win and make it look easy - again, like the Hurricanes and Seminoles used to do in Bowl Games. We've got as much talent as they used to have; maybe more. We SHOULD be scoring 30+ points per game - and on occasion I believe we will iff the OC would open the playbook and think as a general on the battlefield would. Nah... aint buyin' what you're tryin' to peddle. There's no sane reason not to play aggressively to score TDs when you're in the red zone. If you cannot fathom the details I've outlined you're not half as sharp as your mirror suggests. :geaux:
I agree. This Big 10 style of offense is too predictable. I know it's early but we could have passed more and CERTAINLY could have mixed things up. Football is like a game of Chess. If you cannot think (that is, make adjustments REAL TIME - not waiting until halftime) you can forget about a National Title. I remember under Saban the Offense was "never" seen watching the Defense play. They seemed to always be huddled around coaches implementing strategy. That's been missing since he left. I haven't paid much attention this season. Again, it's a THINKING MAN'S game - from a coaching perspective.
True. That's a dual-edged sword though. We should have been picked to win by two TDs. It's about perception and the rankings are all about perception. Why would they predict only a 4 point game? We are much better athletically then the team we just beat, no?
Agreed on all points. And when a scoring opportunity presents itself pursue it like a Pit Bulldog. We've got tall WRs with good hands and we've got a big TE that runs good routes and has good hands. You don't have to display everything early in the season but don't miss opportunities (like inside the 20 and after 3 runs settling for 3 points). That's all I'm sayin'... :geauxtige

LSU - 40 Ducks - 27 LSU - 49 NW - 3 LSU - 19 MSU- 6 average 36 points a game cool
I remember under Saban you remember what ? that he was a better coach a what Saban was a what ? I remember Saban ran off and chased the money that is what I remember Nov 5th can't wait
I'll tell ya, some of you guys around here just friggin kill me. LSU is 3-0, beat two ranked teams, and have the filthiest defense in the country, and we STILL find a way to complain. Next thing you know we'll be complaining about their shoelace choices. SHEESH, give it a rest and enjoy!
