Those of you who are complaining that the vulgar chants are disrespectful and/or offensive to you and your families... I would like to know why you feel this way. If you are raising your kids the right way, then you shouldn't have much to worry about if they hear a simple "*******" chant. Do a little parenting, and it'll be OK. Trust me. And other than the kids' ears, I don't see why you, as adults, would be offended by a harmless chant. Are we that sensitive?
If i knew everything, why would I be in school? Im not saying im the Mr Know it all guy. I'm saying that I'm at an age where I'm no longer "stupid." I'm aware of what goes on in the country. I'm aware of the "ideals" of this country. I know well enough to stay out of the 9th ward. I also know that chanting a$$%^$& is in no way going to drive any of you to complete disgust that you never come back to an LSU game.
I sit on the east sideline (25 yard line near south endzone). I had no idea thatt's what the students were chanting. From my seats, you can vaguely make out the ha,ha,ha,ha, and then it turns to garble. So my guess is that the majority of the stadium didn't even know that the student were tossing around @$$holes like druken pirates. I personally am not offended by the word @$$holes, but I can see where some people would. My next door neighbor swears that I'm gonna burn in hell because i use the word hell. Different people are offended by different things, and there is no way you're gonna satisfy everyone. Also, if the students are gonna shout @$$holes anyway, why not play the song? We have the best band in the country, and fans that respond to the band unlike anywhere else in the country. Just play the damn song.
dropping something an saying obscenties is somewhat considered accidental. I can overlook alot of foul language, but there are some instances where it is not suitable. Like at a tailgate with my wife and kids. You don't understand because you are probably too young to have a wife and kids. No one says they are better than you. As far as my Grammar goes, I am sorry if it offends you or anyone. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful. to the parent advisor: yes that is why they made the band stop playing it, they are trying to parent you where YOUR parents apparently did not. You made the point for me thanks.
are you honestly insulting the way this man was raised? this man's mother is an incredible woman who has single handedly raised her two children to be outstanding students and people, you need find something else to do in this world other than from sitting around and insulting how a college student on tigerforums is raised. it sounds alot more like you are the one who really needs to grow up, and maybe, just maybe get a god d@&* life
Ah, the irony of your statement. A bit touchy for someone who's entertainment repertoire includes calling others an A#^%*&@. Respect for differing opinions goes out the window when your sensitivities are violated?
Hear me now and believe me later, junior. Respect can not be demanded. Respect has to be earned. What respect do you show long-time fans, LSU, Tiger Band, and Tiger Rag itself by chanting profanities during a traditional song? Zippo! Sonny, I could tell you stories from my college days that would shock you, but I didn't do what you are doing. What you don't realize is than LSU football tradition is much bigger than 10,000 drunken teenagers. Show a little respect. Look, part of growing up is discovering that you can do all the things that Mom and Dad didn't permit. You can drink whiskey and smoke dope and sleep with girls. You can stand up and shout A**hole!, A**hole!. It makes you feel all grown up doesn't it? What I'm suggesting to you, amigo, is that you still have some growing up to do. Come on, leave Tiger Rag alone. Sure you can have dirty cheers in the stands, I could tell you a few from the 70's. But don't abuse Tiger Rag. What will you do next . . . sing a filthy version of the Alma Mater and get it stopped, too. How about Hey Fightin' Tigers? Or even the Star Spangled freakin' Banner! I'll tell you something else that you won't understand for another decade. When somebody stands up in public and shouts A**hole!, A**hole!, it is clear to everybody who the a**hole is.
the word I used was apparently, meaning it appears to be. it was not an insult, merely an observation. I am enjoying the life I have thank you. I only hope that your life can be as happy and rewarding as mine has been. You seem to be a very angry young man about all of this. No reason to be. Enjoy your college days, just remember to keep your self respect, and respect others. good day.
