but even poor people can afford eggs and all kinds of natural crap which was my point. food is insanely cheap relative to everything else.

although I did assume most of farmers crap was subsidized.

yes, there is no real excuse for being fat and unhealthy. even healthy food costs virtually nothing.

but we encourage the poor to eat poorly by throwing tax money at crappy foods. if that food were sold at actual cost without subsidy, the poor would less eager to eat it. if mcdonalds actually had to pay the real cost for 100 billion tons of corn sugar for coke, that would be good for eater and for taxpayers.

the government subsidizes the wrong kind of food. of course they should subsidize no food at all and things should just cost what they cost.

but when a farm bill comes up, radicals like red give it a chance instead of understanding that no solution is the solution.

Stop being a jerk. I've made no reference to any farm bills here. You can't make a logical point to save your life, all you know how to do is ridicule.

clearly, the govt is manipulating the market to encourage us to buy doritos instead of grapes. and ive always understood how they are creating the fat america. michael moore, notwithstanding.

im just playing the other side here since we can make better choices for ourselves. no one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

i mean doritos are 3 bucks for a huge bag and grapes are what, 4 bucks for the same weight i would guess,

but those processed carbs are crazy addictive. you can eat 10 lbs of chips but maybe only a lb of grapes, max. unless you are shaqazoolu or something.

pretty sure they lace them with MSG or something. i think i just argued against my point.

i didnt mean you, i said "radicals like you", meaning people who dont oppose horrible big government programs, or argue that doing something terrible is better than doing nothing.

like i can imagine if a bill came up, for billions for iowa corn farmers, and i oppose it, i would guess you would "give it a try". you wouldnt explicitly favor or oppose it, but claim that our elected leaders should go ahead and pass all sorts of crazy laws, because that is their job.

At long last, can you possibly just speak for martin and quit trying to imagine what i might guess and postulate what I would do or claim? I'm right here to speak for myself and perfectly capable of doing so.

Just to make make my point, I can state that I've long been against almost all farm subsidies, perhaps excepting a few strategic crops that we should maintain against the possibility of losing our overseas supply in wartime.

One of the problems with your silly attempts to paint me as a liberal is that there are many issues where I simply do not take a liberal position.

this is the exact logic they use for crazy corn and wheat subsidy, exactly what i am complaining about. your logic is exactly the big government nonsense that is so terrible.

the eggs, milk and cheese that you buy at the store are not your great grandmother's eggs, milk and cheese. it has been well-studied. their nutritional value is significantly diminished (although still higher than a happy meal).

i think its akin to comparing an old growth 2x4 (which was also really two inches by four inches) to the 2x4s of today.

Ethanol is driving the corn subsidy.
