So what happens when Miles retires? We shut down football?

That would probably make you happy if it meant getting rid of CLM, wouldn't it?

This is great news to me. Not good, GREAT! I have done my fair share, and then some, of bitching. I've said it before, Miles is on the cusp of not just LSU greatness, but national greatness. If he can get his head out of the sand and do something, or maybe not do something, about the offense, we'd be flirting with undefeated seasons every year. It also doesn't help that Bama is in our same division. I shudder to think of what could/would happen if we fired someone with his w-l record. I really do believe we will win anothe natn'l title with Miles as our coach. I will reseve further judgement till after the bowl game, and on what he does/doesn't do w/ the offense in the off-season and next season. GEAUX TIGERS!!

There was an article during the day on MSN talking about Miles using this as leverage to get better deals for his staff. That would be the integrity that Miles has shown in the past.

Im not much on over paying for a coach and definitely dont think Miles has earned a raise of his already high salary, but im surprised that so many have stuck their noses in the air on this. Can anyone here honestly say they wouldnt use obvious strong leverage to get a raise if they could?

Depending on the case, I think it is worth the risk. We aren't to that point at LSU with Les - he is winning lots of games. Bottom tier offensive performances for years is something that should be challenged, though.

not worth the risk for LSU to show him the door.
and with hindsight, I'd be willing to bet Nebraska, Michigan, and Tennessee are having second thoughts on if it was worth the risk when they let those guys go.

name me 3 teams in the last 30 years or so who chose to get rid of a coach with a .750 winning % or better (not due to NCAA violations), and had the replacement at least match what the guy the got rid of did.

I'll give you 1, Ohio St. replaced Cooper with Tressel

go ahead and try to find 2 more. i'll wait.

if nobody else in the country can do it, then it would be foolish to think that LSU could just easily replace Les with someone who would get equal/better results.

    is it possible? sure.
is it probable? history says no.
