His twitter account just went from 238 followers to 30,327 followers over night. Some more of his tweets: Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 10h Just to think, if you had my major and tweeted about that rumor, you would've gained 5,000 followers. It's ridiculous. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 10h I've continuously said it was a rumor and that's it. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 10h I never once thought tweeting a rumor would have this kind of impact. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 10h For the people claiming I will be sued, I wasn't the first person to tweet about about this rumor. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 9h I said it was where I got the rumor from. I never said it was true. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 9h I only tweeted a rumor. People do that every day. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 9h In recap, I said the Les Miles rumor was a rumor from the beginning Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 8h @RantSports I saw it on Bamaonline.com on the round table message board after a friend asked me about it. Only a rumor. Nothing more Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 2h I never once claimed to find this out in a journalistic manner. This is a complete overreaction haha Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 2h Fact: a guy with 5000 followers tweeted the Les Miles rumor before me. I had 238 and now have 30k. That doesn't make sense. Sam McGaw @sammcgaw 1h It's completely ridiculous. Tweet a rumor and everyone thinks it's a proven fact.
I thought this was funny: Danger Guerrero @DangerGuerrero 2h source: les miles found a dolphin just sittin in his yard so he loaded it into a cannon and shot it back into the ocean. can anyone confirm?

I remember when this one came out. I called a coaching friend an asked what he was doing. Redoing my resume. You in on another job? Nope, after the O'Leary deal, everyone of the staff was doing the same thing. Calling schools, seeing if there info was the same as his. Date's, times, coaches, etc. Like he said, he didn't want to get a dream job and let them find something on the resume. After the BP "Ride," this too was a wakeup call. Ark knew what they had when they hired him, some school, not so lucky.
I think it has more to do with WKU hiring Petrino and all the backlash they must have taken for doing so. So when this guy read a rumor on the BamaOnline.com discussion forum that Les was in the exact same boat as Petrino, he tweeted about it as "interesting" because of course that is especially interesting to WKU fans, which were probably the only people following him on twitter He obviously didn't expect it to blow up and go beyond his niche followers of WKU fans. Based on his bio as a student reporter for WKU majoring in broadcast news, anybody searching twitter to see if the Les Miles rumor had any legs would have found his tweet and, based on his credentials as a "journalist," re-tweeted his post to their followers as a legit post from a "journalist" confirming the rumor as legit...who in turn re-tweeted to their followers, etc etc spreading it further and further across twitter as a story that actually might have some legs...
