This is hysterical....I'm slowly learning to look past replies by TejasTiger an FightinTiger and the likes.

What would you want the coach to say..."Well, UT is a great team and we'll just do our best and God willing, we'll be victorious" What a frigging joke. I much rather prefer..."This is our home opener and we're going to kick their a$$." Strike some fear into UT, who cares about what UT reads. The Vols are in a bind and they need to know it.

Hey, Tejas and FT, have either of you ever played football? Because I have a hard time believing it from some of your statements. It's an emotional sport and the players respond to the coach's level of emotion and fire. I've said this in another thread but I coach football and baseball at the youth level. Our football teams have lost one game in six years, our baseball teams won two league championships last season. On the football field we are loud and pump up the kids...in baseball it's the complete opposite. I absolutely love every comment I've heard from Coach Miles....give the other team some respect but show absolutely no fear and it will trickle down to the players and they feed off of it. Bulletin board material is something created by the media and is an excuse for losing...if any of you think we could lose a game solely by something a coach says to the media, then you really have no clue.

You both have it right. They should create a message board where all of the alarmists and detractors from every team can post their "sky is falling" scenario's since misery loves company. All of these LSU fans that believe we will not beat any good teams and that we are going down the drain can than match their depression with the ASU fans that feel the same way along with the Sooner fans that think that since Stoops doesn't have his brother anylonger the Sooners will be fighting to stay out of the Big 12 cellar, the Cryami fans that think Coker is the worse coach this side of the Pacific, the tOSU fans who think the Luckeyes will never be able to outscore Northwestern, the Mich. fans who long for the days of the other Bo, the Bama fans who visit the graveyard regularly and try to raise the dead.

The "bulliten board " crap is overrated. Nobody really trys harder or focuses more because of a statement made by other coaches. Any player from either team that needs extra motivation to go out and kick some ass next saturday night needs to transfer out of the SEC.

Sounds like something our former coach said. Give us who think that way a break we have been programmed this way during the Saban era. We'll come on board with the soft zone out shootout type football in a few years.

I got this quote from the advocate. I am not hear to start any crap.

I just thought it was interesting that He doesn't seem to care if he is the underdog, like he was at OK St., or the huge favorite like he is here. He is balls to the wall all the time, very intense, and confident.

I think this is great. Although it was funny at times, I always hated the Lou Holtz approach. "These guys are so much better than us, we're gonna take a vote on Thursday to see if we should even show up."

I like the swagger much more. You guys take it how you want though. Crappy defense or great defense, as long as we're winng football games, I like this crazy SOB.

The problem with quotes like Les said is that it doesn't show you have gonads or not. It doesn't strike any fear in the other teams mind. It will actually piss them off and motivate them.

Let say Big Boy Phil said something to the effect, "Well I am ready to go into Tiger Stadium and really get after their defense. We will really attack that defense and come out with a win."

Would that scare LSU players? Heck no, it would make them mad, give them even more to play for (to make big boy eat his words) and the motivation in practice and on game day would be that much more because of the challenge and confidence that the opposing coach showed.

Personally I don't care for those kind of remarks for the public. Great for practice and locker room and game day but don't give the UT team motivation. It doesn't strike any fear into UT but motivates them further and gives them ammo for more emotion and I don't think you want to do that.

Our defense was creamed by #15 team and now we play a potential #5 and up team next week, don't give them anymore ammo. They UT offense is already salivating over attacking that sorry @ss zone defense scheme.

So Saban saying "this is not a big game, just another game on the schedule" was supposed to strike fear into opposing players and coaches?

It isn't even bulletin board material, he said that the "plan is to wear them out."

What the heck else would the plan be? That we would go out and get hammered?

Where is Captain Obvious when you need him! :hihi:

See what happens when there's no game to beat to death? We somehow get discussions about "bulletin board" material (which is obviously BS, as a couple of you have pointed out) and kicking the dead horse of the defense.

I must admit that all the threads about the same ole things make reading the forum much faster.
