this is just the ultimate ploy to get Flynn comfortable at LSU. If miles comes out and says that this thing is a 50-50 race, then Flynn may up and bolt, because he may not want to risk sitting during his Sr. season By doing it like this, he is comfortable, and can settle in.
It is Flynn's job to lose. Even if Miles would have said it was 50-50, i think everyone knows that it will probably be Flynn that ends up the starter. Even if he has a bad spring practice that doens't take away from the actual game time experience he has which RP does not. If Flynn does happen to struggle hopefully this won't end up like the Russell-Randall controversy in 04 where neither QB was reliable.
I'm so glad that hundreds of thousands of people don't analyze every comment, and read things into them, I make about my business. Sometimes I feel bad for coaches.
unless perrilloux is lightyears beyond flynn or there is an injury, it is flynn's job... Miles has already shown that he has strong loyalty to seniors...
My concern with the QB's is that both needed gametime experience, with RP much more than Flynn. Since Flynn, to me, hadn't seen the field really that much in the past two years,it will also be a learning process for Flynn as the season goes on; I am not expecting him to lit up the field immediately though I like him very much as a QB.
Miles introduced Flynn to LSU’s governing board as the player “who very comfortably appears to be our next quarterback.” I assume one could take this a couple of ways, hopefully he doesn't mean Flynn is light years ahead of RP. When RP was a freshman I played poker with a guy who seemed to be in the know of LSU practices and such and he said ( the year RP was a redshirt freshman and LSU had the #1 defense in the nation ) that RP ran circles around the first string defense. I believe his exact words were it was like a "man playing boys". If that statement is true in any sense of the word Flynn should have his hands full in earning the starting position.
Re: Flynn to start in 07 OR play them both at once and really give the defense something to think about. Flynn might not be able to jump but he can run.:yelwink2:
I think Miles is trying to put the QB question to rest. He knows that's all the media is going to talk about until football season. I think it's a pretty good idea. As far as Perriloux goes, he's not going anywhere. Even if he doesn't start this year, he will have the next two years to shine. Besides, Im sure Crowton is already figuring out how to get Perriloux involved in the offense next year. He's probably foaming at the mouth as we speak.
Since everyone is giving their 2 cents on this, I'll put all of the rumors to rest and say the Miles marriage counselor told Les to make this statement so that his wife wouln't ask him about it during intimate moments.
