Re: Latest out of Michigan Pelini wants a head coaching job and quite frankly, he's earned the opportunity, IMO. Don't know that he would be a candidate at a top 10-15 program, but I can see him being given a chance at a mid-major or perhaps get lucky and get a job at Nebraska or even...dare I say it....Arkansas !!!! Holy crap! Could you imagine having to face a Pelini-coached Razorback defense every year?!?!
Re: Latest out of Michigan I agree that Carr is trying to work it so Miles won't get the job. His announcement was timed so that Michigan HAD to start the search and get a new coach ASAP or else they'd lose their recruiting year, and he knew very well that Les Miles was between a rock and a hard place--he couldn't say he wanted to interview because that would wreck the National Championship hunt, and he couldn't say he didn't want to interview because that would be a lie like all those Saban told (and Les doesn't lie like that.) I agree that Les would like the job and that he won't get it (that is, unless they're stuck like Alabama was last year with lots of public turndowns.):LSU231: It won't be the first time that an AD thinks he knows better than his fan base.
"Timing" will only be a factor if LSU wins the next two games and goes to N.O. If we lose one of the next two and get knocked out of the NC game, all bets are off......relative to timing, that is.:miles:
another article which also says that Carr's timing excludes Les Miles from consideration http://blog.mlive.com/jim_carty/2007/11/carr_miles_and_the_timing_is_e.html
After seeing the clip, it just confirmed to me that Miles is the real deal and says what he means. There is a loyalty there and the emotion on the stage shows that he really cares for this team and doesn't want to screw them. I tell you what, if I was in the locker room and saw that PC, even if Miles announced to his players he was going to UM, I would still give my hardest for the team and him. Especially seeing the sincerity in his voice and his actions. I really think the players would understand if he went to UM and would still play hard for him in the remaining games. It would just be great for Miles to come out and tell UM that he doesn't want it so don't come asking.
Dorsey, Steltz, Jordan, Hester, Flynn, etc, etc... I think he legitimately loves the entire team, but I think he knows this group of seniors is something unique and they are leaving behind them an example that may set LSU up for decades of dominant football. I think, end of the day, that's what has choked him up - the quality of the competitive spirit of his seniors.
