I dont think he meant it was his "water loo". I think he admires Miles allot but doesn't think he is on the same level as other coaches he mentioned. He could be right, he could be wrong, time will tell. That is just his opinion. I'll wait until the jury is all the way in, fat lady's sang.....after a BCS NC these naysayers will quiet a bit. Miles is good for LSU at this point in time and We're in the hunt. I do tend to have the same expectations he does/did for this team at the talent level we have, so I see his point. Doesn't everyone get excited when they hear big hype about their school? Sometimes the hype is real, sometimes we expect too much though. One point to counter his point that he is missing is this: Saban, Spurrier, Stoops and Carr and half a dozen others werent all that before they got to their respective schools. ( He does mention this, did you see that? see what he said about Jim Tressel) So..... Les may be good for LSU and LSU may be good for LES... in other words, he might just BE the next Spurrier. The writer is just saying, IF he were THAT good now.... what if... but we all know how what if's are. Spurrier could do worse with this talent... he is asking do you honestly think he would? its a rhetorical question, based on HIS opinion. it just so happens allot of people have the same opinion... probably just as many dont...shrugs.. who's right?? we'll see. The truth is like I said earlier, look at the players we churn out for the NFL. Talent is there, so the media is looking for some domination dynasty here. I think the shark hungry media wanted a record like we have, thats fine, maybe no loses, but they thought we'd crush everyone but USC. And you know how they love to be right. BUT with the parity in the SEC, the good coaching, that's VERY hard to do. maybe the real deal is the media isnt very realistic, or they are just looking to go from one dynasty to another because thats what sells. Its all about the money. Personally, I'm happy as a dead pig in the sunshine. I mean any fan would love to be where we are. :tigereye: :crystal: :geauxtige
The reported emotions coming from Miles today in the PC says volumes in my book. It tells me that he really cares for his guys and wants to get them to the NC Title game and win out. But he knows he has a decision to make and if he makes that decision and doesn't handle it right, it could really hurt the guys he cares for and possibly inhibit their quest for a title. He is thinking about this job and he will definitely consider it if they have been in contact with his agent or not. So he is thinking about taking the job or he is waiting to see if it is going to be offered to him.
Those were not tears, that is the way his Lesticles purge the extra testicular fortitude. One man cannot expect to keep that much in one sack.:milesmic:
I'm amazed at how many of you have psychic powers.....anyone can give me the winning lottery numbers?? :milesmic: :LSU231:
My thoughts....no doubt CLM loves these kids that play for LSU. He loves LSU, BR, and LA. He is struggling hard with the thought that he might have to decide b/t the two, and I do believe it's sincere. It wouldn't surprise me if CLM is hoping UM goes in another direction so not to put him in the position to have make that decision. Besides...he cant go, then we would have to get rid of the crazy little smilies :milesmic: :miles: <<<<< Ive kinda grown to like em
Some good zingers in this thread, made me smile ; Lesticles purging themselves, that's a good one! If you're the AD at Mich., you want to hire the best coach you can. I'd make a list and contact them to see if they want to talk. Les is a good recruiter, but in La. he has no intrastate competition. Will he get the type of skill players up north as down in La, Miss, Fla, Bama, Ga? Probably not. He has hired good coordinators. His teams don't always look sharp and well prepared on both sides of the ball. They are heavily penalized, and drop an occasional game they should have won. Are there other good candidates? Sure. You'd talk to them, see how they sound. You might find one in his 40's with more snap, organization, and fire in his belly. I don't think they just call Les and offer it to him. They could, but its not what I'd do if I was the AD. We may keep Les, maybe not. If not, we should still come out ok. How many 40'ish coaches with snap, organization and some fire would put in for the job? A bunch I'd bet. Maybe we could catch the next Urban Meyer? I hope Les stays, but the world won't end if he goes. LSU has a lot to offer. How'd you like to coach Perrilloux, KW, CS, RM, LaFell, Byrd, Tolliver, Dickson on offense. Similar on defense, the cupboard is not exactly bare, folks.
My thoughts on this conversation is that it seems like any coach who is offered and takes the UM job must announce it sooner rather than later because it could hurt recruiting from both schools? It seems like it could be a no win situation for either school if you wait too long to announce because one if not both schools could lose some recruits? My thoughts are more about what this situation does to the universities and their football programs?
At least for the last two hires the criteria appears to have been proven HCs from BCS schools with NFL experience. Hopefully we don't cross that bridge again this year.
