Not saying Les isn't a good man, he is. And Saban is definitely not. What I am saying is, do you really want to pay a guy $4 mil/yr. for being a 'good man'? Since when did being a good man start being a requirement for hiring a football coach? All of them cut corners, all of them are after the money. So what you're really after is the guy that puts the best product on the field. Is it Les or Nicky? :eek:ldskule:

    I'll go with this answer.

I love Saban's fire. I love Miles' integrity.

I love Saban's playing freshman that can make an impact. I love Miles prep for bowl games humiliating his opponents.

"Since when did being a good man start being a requirement for hiring a football coach?"

I think it is without question a huge component of hiring a coach (Or keeping one). Remember guys this isnt pro football (Well yes it is big money I agree) these are 18 - 20 year old kids who are in College.
So I think I would without question want a coach who gets us to bowl games every year maybe has a great season from time to time and has class and integrity and runs a clean program. Saban well he has had some issues with integrity, its documented he has a problem with honesty. So again I stick with Miles.

    I agree...only one exception.

Those are 18-24 yr. old kids who, for the most part, wouldn't be near college if it wasn't for football.:)

    Oh yea....Miles.

The fact of the matter is that Nick has never stuck around at any one program long enough to know how well his teams perform in the long-term. It's amazing how people selectively forget the embarrassing OOC losses he had at LSU, or how Bama got utterly destroyed in the Sugar Bowl last year. To date he has no SECCG's or NC's at Bama, Les has both at LSU. Until Nick does that at Bama it's apples-to-oranges regarding who the better coach is. Nick is no doubt great at turning around mediocre programs, but there's a big question mark about whether he can sustain long-term success.

Yep, biggest detraction for Saban would be his lack of commitment.

Strictly based on coaching Saban is a much better coach than Miles. Ive always thought of a Miles as a good, solid coach, but never great. What makes Miles good is his love for his players, school, and community. That goes a long ways.

Id much rather have Miles over that piece of $hit Satan though. Nicky is a snake in the grass.

Miles and Saban are good coaches.
Some fans discount Miles b/c he used Saban's players (player he never actually coached except for the redshirts).
Those same fans often praise Saban for the job he is doing at Bama. Isn't Saban using someone else recruits?
I suppose Mike Shula should be given credit for Saban's undefeated 2008 regular season.

Well let's see. Bear Bryant wasn't such a good guy, neither was Barry Switzer or Jimmy Johnson. Would you have traded Les for any of those? The answer is, of course, yes.

I don't remember LSU being under NCAA investigation under Saban. So I'm guessing he followed the rules as well as Les. As far as honesty goes, do you really think we got the whole story on the Michigan offer in 2007? Seems to me like Miles was going to jump prior to ESPN breaking the story prior to the SEC Championship. There aren't any angels here. :eek:ldskule:
