I don't blame either Jimbo or Miles. They can only work with what they have - which includes a mediocre running game and Oline. These 2 things are what have held our offense back in our tough games. Against a weak opponent, they can't exploit our Oline because their Dlines aren't strong enough, and we can play our freshmen RBs in those games without near as much worry that their mistakes will cost us the game. But in tough SEC mathups with top 10 teams on the road, their DLines are some of the best in the country and our OLine can't hang. And then the coaches worry about playing freshmen in that sort of hostile environment (especially early in the season) - which I can't blame them for.
It is no more apparent this year than it has been any other year. He may be here next year, he may not - but don't believe he's gone just because of some rumors that he's unhappy here.
I can agree with you on the O-line problems. The handling of the running backs I blame on Miles and Co. Williams/Scott should have been unleashed from the first snap of the first game and we should have never looked back. But that was the coaches decisions and they have to live with it. To this day, they are still trying to force JV to be something he no longer is....a good running back.
Fair enough. Well, since you put it that way: Our offense had their critics--even under Saban....and the one constant between that time and now is that Jimbo has been our OC under both head coaches. So I guess you can draw your comparisons from that.
My question is this: If our offense is considered lackluster, what are all the other offenses in the SEC considered. There isn't one team that hasn't had atleast 1 low scoring game. Now, maybe not as bad as 3 points but still low scoring none the less - but as everyone knows LSU was dealing with more than the other team that day. Florida - 17 vs Auburn and South Carolina Arkansas - 14 vs USC Auburn - 7 vs LSU, 10 vs Arkansas, 15 vs Georgia etc. Sure the offense against Auburn and UF was disappointing but those 2 teams have decent defenses as well.
You know, it's one thing for a mod to not like people or thier posts, but to add to another person's poll is dumb. C'mon... take it or leave it.
To me, as good as our offense is at times, it's more of a question of consistency beginning with which RB's will be in the game to will the OL be dominant today? For example,Fresno St. was getting a lot of penetration at the beginning of the game. I know their front was better than their record but still not supposed to happen. Just my humble opinion. I'm hoping that we get it together Friday and show the College Football community just how talented and good they and we know we are. :thumb:
I sure hope so too. It seemed to me the offensive play calling hasn't been bad the last few games, esp. when they start to let JR run more on designed plays. I have a feeling the offensive line is doing better with the running game and gaining confidence. If the offense doesn't get rattled in Little Rock, which is a test of their mental toughness, I think they should be able to produce this Friday. My concern is the health of the defense. The available linebackers HAVE to step up to stop or slow down the ARK running game. Let's hope Pellini comes up with a good defensive scheme. As to why KW nor Charles Scott not seeing the field against Ole Miss, I strongly believe there are good reasons behind the decision. I'd rather see KW well rested for the ARK game. I think the offense will be pumped up for this game.
I think we'll be o.k. on that note......hell they've had enough expreience playing big games on the road this year (Auburn, Florida, Tennessee) for an entire college career! :thumb:
