Awesome first post...added to your rep :)

One thing to add here and I run back to my hole... Considering the 2 losses this year, could this be the wake up that our guys need to make a run next year. These guys know they were the better team on the field in both losses this year. To lose like they did might make them wake up and focus more and learn a lesson. The old saying that anybody can beat anybody on any given day comes into play here. Hopefully, our guys learn from this and next year they leave it all on the field everygame. If they do, we might be celebrating an undefeated season plus a NC.

The coach wasn't to blame for this one. A couple bone-headed plays on the field cost us and when the domino's started falling against us, they couldn't over come it.

Let's stop blaming play calling, JR, Zebra's, etc..etc. The blame lies with the players!

Ok.. this thread seems safe to post in.. lol

I can't see calling for anyone's job after 1.5 seasons. I mean, last year after the Tenn game, people wanted his head on a platter and many of those same people wanted to kiss the man after the end of the season when it turned out to be a pretty damned decent season afterall. Same thing when Saban was coaching and we got beat by UAB in 2002.. people wanted to kill him for that.. then the next year he brings the crystal football home. Imagine if we'd have cut him after 2002... How moronic would that have been? Ironically, we wouldn't have this problem in lieu of that since we'd not be so spoiled.

I'm not sayin he's Saban or he's gonna bring us a NC next season, or even the season after. But in my humble opinion it's way early to be talking about cutting him. He hasn't even gotten his own recruits all in there yet for crying out loud. Those people who demand a 10 or 11 win year every year are in for some long miserable lives. Remember.. was 45 years between NC games for us last time... it may not happen in a year or two.

It will be interesting to see if Les is as demanding of his assistant coaches as Nick was. Nick was hell on coaches and had a really high turnover, but LSU upgraded with every turnover because Nick demanded excellence from his position coaches, just like in the NFL--"If you don't get the job done we'll get someone who can."

Les is armed only with the players that he has on the roster and, as you point out, he can make changes at practice. He needs excellence from his position coaches to get it done. Miles can't just go outside the team and get a better player, but he can change position coaches as he pleases--he has total control. The special teams, running back, and offensive line coaches should be concerned about getting their jobs done better.

Charlie McClendon and Gerry Dinardo lost their jobs for being too loyal to assistant coaches who were not getting the job done. That wasn't going to ever happen with Nick, but I don't have a feel for Miles yet on assistant coach accountability.

Fans are a passionate group and it's hard to be objective. Everyone wants to blame the coach when we lose, which is understandable. I know I did after the Auburn game. I thought we were way too conservative on offense. However, I blame the players for the Florida loss.

We drove the ball down the field on our 1st possession for a TD, then forced UF to punt. Jackson muffed the punt and killed our early momentum.

We regrouped in the 2nd quarter and went on a really long drive. A questionable holding call took a TD from us. Then we had Hester inches away from a TD. Then the JR fumble on the goal. Another huge momentum swing.

Then the fumble and safety on the opening kickoff of the 2nd half just demoralized this team. A huge swing in the game from which we could never recover .

Some will argue that we weren't ready to play, but I disagree. I thought we looked solid in the 1st half, just turned the ball over too many times. The Doucet fumble was a backbreaker.

Coaches coach and players play. This one is on the players.

I totally agree with your post but this is what bothers me if you are correct!
NS taught us to play for 60 minutes, I honestly don't know if we did that or
not but we were still in the game to the very end.
If the team was demoralized and could never recover that seems to be an
    issue.

I thought we would be tougher this year especially after last year!
I guess I just expected too much like a lot of people did!

Players are human. Emotions and momemtum are a huge part of college sports. We were playing in a hostile environment.

Think about it. How often do you see a fumble for a safety on a kickoff? I know I was in shock to see such a play to start a half. Our defense was standing on the sidelines thinking our offense was going on the field, then all of a sudden they are on the field. Florida smelled blood and went for the kill.

I don't think they gave up. We simply dug a hole that was too deep to climb out.

They fired John Cooper after going 8-4!!!!! to get this guy. Les can easily lose on the road to Tennessee and Arkansas to match this record.
