As a coach, Saban is pretty damn awesome. He's intense, fiery, demands excellence from his players for every second of the 60 minutes they are out there. Not uber cerebral (unless maybe comparing him to Miles), but has a methodical, disciplined approach to winning. As a person, complete and utter douchebag. I mean that in every sense of the word. No personality. He could suck the life out of a social gathering faster than you can call an audible. If you have the audacity to question his philosophy or the manner in which he does something, prepare for nail-spitting, tongue-lashing of epic proportions.
Miles as a coach is also pretty damn awesome. Demands excellence from his players and coaches them to dominate and beat opponent in every facet of the game. Clock management/on-the-fly questionable decisions aside, there aren't many coaches out there with his record and are truly "winners" in every sense of the word. As a person, very eccentric personality, to say the least. Not sure if it's part schtick, part difficulty in proper articulation, but he definitely marches to his own beat, doesn't really care what other people think, and has no problem letting you know. Having a conversation with him is like being in the Twilight Zone. Sometimes you're not sure how you got there, but often you find it's a pretty damn cool place to be. Also, he's not a douche.
Saban panders to the camera in every interview - prehalftime, posthalftime, SEC media day, security cams at Taco Bell. Miles looks at the person asking the questions.
Maybe. But he drives like a wild man in his Escalade. He tailgated a woman in my office on the river road, illegally passed her on the right shoulder and then cut across her front to make a left-hand turn. She was pissed and followed Les all the way to the practice field and told him he was dangerous and rude. Les was a real prick and told her that he was in a hurry and she was delaying him.

They surely played the whole game, the full 60 minutes, when they blew a 24 point halftime lead last year when the barn out coached and basically humulated bama last year in the iron bowl. That was the only non lsu game that I enjoyed watching either bama or auburn play. :miles:
Good point. I think Saban is a great coach, but he has his list of WTF loses LSU Homecoming 2000 UAB 13, LSU 10; 2004 Bowl game - Iowa 30, LSU 25 – We lose the game on the last play and Saban is the position coach of the backs; Utah 31 Bama 17 – thanks Saban for giving juice to the BCS buster crowd; the biggest WTF - La Monroe – this one makes the international all sports WTF list; and last year’s Iron Bowl. He’s a top 5 coach in recruiting, preparation, and team management. But his game day coaching is just above agerage – not great.
