If "Less" Miles leaves I say don't let the door hit ya. We started the season with turnovers, penalties, dropped balls, and a lame scheme. We ended the season the exact same way!!! LSU won 10 games on pure talent not with good coaching and player motivation. I truly hope I'm wrong but I see a down turn coming with our program with "Less" Miles. I just don't see the control factor with Miles. Saban was a great coach, but I still wish LSU would have made a hard push for Mark Richt when they hired Saban. :thumb:

Ummm...Beantown....I think that list was for the CU job, not the currently-occupied LSU gig... :)

At least your first hand analysis was great! You've got me firmly against any Boston U. coach headed to LSU...of course, I was reticent to the idea to begin with, but you sealed the deal!:thumb:

So, still no answer on that, huh? I saw the same season that you did. What I saw was a team that often lacked motivation and discipline. I suppose that is the hurricanes fault??
Try one more time. Better yet, I'll save you the trouble and break it down for you:
'Les is too tentative...' - Personality/disposition critique. He always seems very uncomfortable when he speaks and seems to lack conviction. I don't know what he is like with the team, but I hope it's a hell of a lot more forceful and certain than he is with the media.
'...seems to be to content with where he is, rather than constantly striving for excellence.' - Obviously, anyone involved with sports on a collegiate level is very competitive and constantly wants to be better. But certain coaches teams have more of a killer instinct than others. This team frequently 'sat on' big/decent leads, and allowed the opponents to come creeping back. Apparently, Miles' teams at OSU did this as well.
What's nuts to me is that we had the exact same problems in damn near every game this year. We got our act together for Auburn, but went back to the same old tendencies after that. So obviously, the coaching staff was having trouble reaching them much of the time. Disconnect.
Nothing else better to do? That is absolutely preposterous. I never said he firmly believed that they were going to lose. But he was making a contingency plan incase they did, which sends just a terrible message to everyone (team and fans alike). In my opinion, that is completely unacceptable.
Ordered him to go? Speaking of naive. Let's just say for a second that such a completely unrealistic circumstance existed. What was Skip going to do to Les if he didn't go? Fire him? Right. Further, if that was the case (which it wasn't), that would be unsettling to know that the football coach was being so controlled by the AD. I want a guy that stands up for himself and his team.
Trust me, if that was the case, you would know it by now.

Why is it that some of you are completely incapable of holding a rational conversation regarding someone's criticisms without making the assumption that we want the man fired? I have problems with Miles. There are things that I wish he would do differently. If he fails to make those adjustments in a reasonable amount of time, then yes, I would want him fired, the same way I would like to see Smoke relieved of his head coaching duties. But for now, I'm talking about the things that make me feel uneasy about the future of the LSU football program.

Other coaches/AD's at other schools do the same thing. I will admit that I don't ever recall reading/hearing where any other coach at LSU had ever traveled with the AD to such a meeting though. But those meetings do take place reguardless of if it's a lesser bowl than what you have a chance to make or not. AD's understand the whole "on any game" concept and for them to sit back on their hands and to not lobby for other bowl games could be dangerous if you don't end up where you wanted (in our case, it was simple: win the conference, go to the Sugar. No lobbying involved. But if Skip didn't take those trips, and since we ended up losing the conference title game, then perhaps we would have gotten even worse of a Bowl than what we ended up with.)

Don't think that Auburn, Alabama and Florida officials weren't lobbying themselves for the Cotton, Citrus and Cap One bowls themselves.

If I'm a head coach, I don't really concern myself with what bowl persay, I just get my team ready to play--reguardless of bowl. Those contingency plans are usually reserved for the AD's to make. However, we don't know if Skip asked Miles to join him--possibly due to some unknown connections with Cotton Bowl officials that Miles had from his days either 1.) with the Dallas Cowboys or 2.) with OSU? And if that's the case, then I can understand him going. Or if your boss wants you to join him on a business trip, reguardless on if it's normal for him to invite you or not, you go because he's your boss and he asked you to.

Come on things could be worse if you want maybe we could trade coaches with Tennessee Hell Fulmer has a track record , he even beat this weak team we have in Baron Rouge , this year . He would probably be proud to come down here , he is a proven winner .What do you say want him ??? By the way while we are on that subject , did you hear that in Knoxville on Friday Miss Jackson was asking her students what their father did , she got to little John and ask him "Little John what does your daddy do ?", Little John spoke right up he said "My daddy is a male stripper for a gay bar . " Miss Jackson got to little Sue asked her waht her dad did , she said he was a lawyer . After class Miss Jackson asked little John if he told the truth , he said "No teacher I lied ,I just did not want the kids to know my daddy is a coach for the Vols !! "" THINK ABOUT THAT the next time you want another coach !!
