It's not like we're raising him for fur or something. He's not subject to animal research. He gets fine treatment from the LSU Vet School and is kept healthy and happy in a giant habitat. All he has to do is be an icon.

He is perhaps the most famous Tiger in the country. is adored by millions, and has no need that goes unmet..

Where exactly is the cruelty? PETA has no case.

I liked your post over there on that idiot board, it was a very classy post, it is just too bad that those idiots over there don't understand.

I hope we beat them a gazillion to nothing when we play them.

Supa, I saw the same special a while back, I think. Was it the one where the elephant was relocated from LA to the refuge in TN, where it met up with an old friend it'd worked with in a circus 17 years previously? In the town where I grew up, a Lebanese family had a grocery store just "across the tracks" (literally), and they kept both an adult lion and a tiger out back. That was when I learned that tigers are bigger than lions, on the average, and not just those particular two. Although there's overlap, the biggest subspecies of tigers (Siberian) are bigger than the biggest lions. If you asked 100 guys walking down the street, I'd bet 90 would say that all lions are bigger than all tigers...

Those people take the cake. I've never encountered such blind stupidity. I honestly don't know how to respond to them most of the time. It's like arguing with a four year old. Those guys make the freaks over at woopig look almost normal. I'm going to find a hacker and pay him to crash their site. :hihi:

Mike V's spirit is roaming the LSU campus going all the places he's always wanted to go but could not. I know he's running the stadium steps and lounging on the field enjoying the grass. Spending time on top of the Indian mounds, playing on the parade grounds, playing in the lakes and getting ready for football season. RIP Mike V!

Could someone please post pics from the day they let Mike out to play with the students? I'd love to see them.

Do you think they will have a tiger by football season?

Do you think that they will have a new Mike for football season? I think it would be great to be able to introduce him at one of the first football games!
