Alleva couldn’t find anybody because he didn’t look.

According to most reports, Jimbo was going to be too expensive, so he wasn’t seriously pursued. Him being expensive is to be expected with his resumé and current employment situation.

Herman wanted to hear from his dream job. Again, that is to be expected for anyone worth a damn to explore all of their options before making a choice.

Alleva looked no further than them two before diving right into the Orgeron pool. And actually up until the Florida game, he was allegedly in front of Herman even.

    NOBODY else was interviewed. nobody.

it’s really hard to get someone to say yes if you don’t even ask.

there are several guys out there making a name for themselves on the way up. They are not currently at “destination” jobs. Meaning if we wanted them we could get them.

Fuente was in his first year at a pretty big football school, so we may not have been able to swing him.

Fedora was probably getable. he’s at a basketball school that’s probably getting the hammer from the NCAA today.

Fleck was definitely getable. Proof of that is he moved up to Minnesota.

that’s just the top 3 names (most commonly mentioned) on the list.

but Alleva did the same thing here that he did at Duke.
Back then could have hired Bobby Ross. A coach with a National Championship and even a Super Bowl appearance.
Instead, he took the lazy approach and just promoted the interim guy. Because like we see many places when it happens, the team responds with more energy when their coach gets canned.

If true that he likes to meddle in football operations, then O was probably the choice all along and courting Jimbo & Herman was only window dressing. These guys would have been like Miles and told him to go fly a kite. I'm starting to think the fix was in and O was the mole Joe used to get Les out. Give it time and it all starts to paint a picture. This is why Joe needs to be shown the door because he is catering to his own ego despite what it does to our school.

Herman never wanted the LSU job. His target was always Texas which is why his agent leaked it out that he was going ot be hired by LSU so tu would pull the trigger on Strong.

I firmly believe that Jimbo played LSU as well to get a better contract at FSU. Why would he leave a place he was successful at to come play against the SEC every year?

Alleva got played by both of them.

The Troy loss to South Alabama was very interesting. I have no doubt that the better team lost. But you know what we tend to forget? These are very young people playing the game. Once they beat LSU they either thought they COULDN'T be beat by the likes of USA, or already with a feather in their cap they didn't care to put in the effort. Both of which mean that these youngsters need to be kept constant and motivated. When Orgeron dictated that we would simplify things he broke the consistency they had been practicing all year, and he broke the motivation. I mean, what can be exciting and motivating about keeping things simple against an inferior opponent? I hope Coach O has learned his lesson.

he said he learned his lesson prior to getting the HC gig. Me thinks he is what he is. It doesn't get any better than this. I don't think he has a grasp of the big picture. CEO is not a CEO. He is a mid level position coach.

go back and pay attention to how this all went down starting in 2014.

    • Ponamsky still had his radio gig at the time.
    • A regular guest on his show was the unemployed Ed Orgeron. All but begging to get back into coaching. Again, the man was unemployed. Actually came out publicly begging USC to take him back in any assistants role they could find for him.
    • Chavis and Brick leave opening a spot for a new DL coach. Ponamsky and crew start pimping O for the job. drums up a swell of public support and he eventually lands it.
    • 2015 season ends like it did. Ponamsky defended Miles down the stretch saying he shouldn’t be fired yet. Then 1 game into 2016 he’s screaming that Miles needs to go and we already have the perfect interim on staff, O.
    • O gets interim gig. First priority? to publicly name Ponamsky as his special assistant.
    • with a guy with deep media connections now in place, the Propaganda Machine goes full throttle trying to drum up local support for the local guy. and it worked. “One of Us” and “He’s changed” became catch phrases overnight.

it was a con job. plain and simple.

if O was as highly respected nationally as people say he is, why did he have to resort to publicly begging for work on a radio show in Baton Rouge?

why did Ponamsky publicly defend Miles in 2015 and scream for his firing 1 game later in beginning of 2016? even going as far as immediately pumping O for interim gig.
because there was zero chance of his buddy O getting the gig at the end of 2015.

why would O make Ponamsky’s current role so publicly known like he does? i mean every coach has those guys. just nobody even mentions it, because the public doesn’t care who you got reading twitter for you. But O brings up Ponamsky every chance he gets.
Could it be to stroke the ego of a guy with very deep local media ties that can probably do a lot to set the narrative being reported?
