Oh, there's no question he has much more credibility. I've never heard anyone question his integrity and however he handles it, I expect it to be with class, and at the very least, not deceitful; however, that's a TOUGH position to be in- in fact, I'd started a thread on that very thing earlier this week about how a coach should handle that very situation. I'm anxious to see how he handles it too but I'm not worried about IF he leaves, the timing, for our team does concern me but if he leaves, I know having Steve Spurrier as our coach will be great.
I just hope that the players will be able to trust him...He needs to talk to the entire team, but he should have a separate conversation with the guys that Saban recruited...If those guys can trust Miles and see the difference between him and Saban, then there should be no problem.
Re: Michigan coach Carr to step down after 13 seasons with Wolverines Are you serious?? Don't get me wrong, I don't like him but if he would come to LSU I would be excited. The guy is arguabaly the best college football coach in the country. The only reason he is experiencing mediocrity is b/c he is in SC which is a recruiting dead zone and doesn't have the facilities that attract the big time recruits. He would grow old and retire in Baton Rouge. I, by no means, want to lose Les Miles but if we do I would want the best coach availabe and that would be "The ole ball coach".
Are you saying that we have players on our team that Saban recruited?? I would have never known that from reading Bama boards. Anywho, although he's a flip flopper :hihi: , I am with Tiga on this one. I think Miles handles it with class. You will NOT here him saying "I am not gonna be the coach at UM", and then bolt for Ann Arbor a couple of weeks later. I also agree with Tiga that CLC announcing now could mean that they aren't after Les Miles. I have been saying for a while now that I don't think the higher ups at UM want him...just the fans do...and they don't get a vote. I also agree with Tiga (3 friggin times in one post:huh: ) that SOS would be interested...and LSU would reciprocate with interest in him. Now, I think Tiga and I differ on one thing for sure...I don't necessarily think SOS is a good fit for us. I just think he's too old. I would rather...IF Les Miles leaves...that we look for a younger coach that's up and coming, or someone like Jack Del Rio. The only problem I have with Del Rio is I'm not sure how he'll do at the college ranks.
I also think that Michigan is not looking for Miles...But if he does leave, I don't like Jack del Rio too much...Now, Mark Richt and Rich Rodriguez, wow!!!...Either one of those two coaches would be perfect for LSU.
I agree with Richt and Rod, but don't think they are in any danger of losing their jobs...nor do they wanna LEAVE their jobs.
didn't Rodriguez have some interest in the alabama job before they got saban? I would really like to get him if Miles does leave for Michigan. What do you think of Peterson from Boise State? A young up and coming coach would be good. Spurriers best days as a coach are way behind him IMO.
I agree...Spurriers best days are way behind him....Peterson sounds good, but Brian Kelly, the dude from Cincy is better I think....Bama was interested in Rodriguez, he said no to Bama and then signed a new contract...But you never know with coaches.
