Re: Michigan coach Carr to step down after 13 seasons with Wolverines If he wants them. You can't honestly tell me you could see him still going at it like JoePa. More you could see him sitting the clubhouse of a local golf course telling "war stories".
Re: Michigan coach Carr to step down after 13 seasons with Wolverines he's in his early-mid 60's. Edit: 62
Re: Michigan coach Carr to step down after 13 seasons with Wolverines Old enough to where I would be upset if we gave him the contract he would be looking for.
And get in the recruiting game that late?? Not likely. Dan Wetzel had a pretty good take on a possible scenario the other day. He said if Carr announced now it was cause he didn't want Miles and it would put Miles in the most difficult position to be able to navigate. He also said if Carr waited till later (Forget his exact timeline but much closer to BCS Bowl), it was a sign that he did want him. I'd take Carr's early announcement as a good sign for us cause: 1/ If would back up what I've been reading about Miles' not being the one they wanted 2/ Miles can't dance around it this long, neither can Michigan- they'll need someone in ASAP to help with recruiting. I'll still stand on what I said: 1/ IF Michigan offers, he's gone & 2/ IF he leaves, we get Steve Spurrier but right now I have a gut feeling Miles may not be offered.
I just saw this on ESPN.com... I would think that Miles won't be able to even admit he's talking to them or he'd be terminated by LSU immediately based on the contract he's signed. At the very least, it would give LSU grounds to sue him for breach of contract for more than the $1.25M he'd owe if he took the job.
YOu know what else worries me? Not only am I worried about Miles leaving (I hope he doesn't), but I'm worried about possible recruits following him up there. A big time program that has an easy conference and it could lead to quick playing time since the Big 10 is not known for their speed like the SEC.
