I just read on another forum Carr today made a point about Schembechler, et al not being a "Michigan man". Certainly UM is foolish to be so closed, but I also think this addresses the Miles issue.

Read the tea leaves Les...UM is not going to be a smooth transition.

This is the best reason I can see for Michigan not having Miles at the top of their list. If they wanted Les to replace Carr, they could have made a secret deal with Les to let him coach the post-season at LSU and Carr would have announced his retirement on the day Les was announced as the Meechigan head coach in January. That's the best deal for Michigan and for Les. Les gets a shot at the national championship and Michigan gets to hire a championship coach and not miss a day of recruiting.

Forcing Les to take the job right now doesn't help Les and Michigan would be perceived as having sabotaged LSU's title chase. The timing of this announcement is more like one Michigan would make if it was planning on considering a number of coaches . . . immediately after the season, when most of the changes are made.

Of course Carr may be the wild card and dislikes Les and the Michigan AD enough to make it difficult for the pair to come to terms.

Watching the press conference gave the feeling that Carr doesn't want Les to be the coach...The thing is that it's not up to him...It would be interesting to see what Michigan's AD has to say.

    Au contraire mon frère.

He will have a lot of influence in the decision.........from everything I've read, anyway.

I know he's gonna have some influence, but I just don't think that it will be the guy he wants...After all, Michigan's AD has a bigger responsability to the fans...The same fans that wanted Carr out....Michigan fans won't be happy if they hire somebody that Coach Carr wanted.

    No, not better.

It has never been proven that Petrino broke any NCAA Rules. We should not hold unproven allegations against people---that's reserved for China and Cuba. Do you even have a LINK to any credible source stating these allegations?

What Petrino DID was turn also-ran Louisville into an upper tier football program. (period).

A shady character to me is Pete Carrol. His team is under NCAA investigation for rule violations (major infractions) that he undoubtedly knew about, and probably encouraged. Is Louisville under NCAA investigation?
