The 800 pound gorilla in the room! Les Miles has to deal with this circus NOW or this will be a distraction for the team. There is no way around it. He needs to let the University know what his plans are NOW. :geaux:
All I know is that Les Miles will have to be a miracle man to win the next three games while handling all the distractions that will come from the speculation--indeed, the reality--that he's headed to Ann Arbor. There will be communication each day between Miles's surrogates and Michigan. Miles's people will be talking with the people in charge of his contract at LSU. The buyout will have to be negotiated. The transition team at Michigan will have to be put in place. Recruiting at LSU will come to a standstill. Miles's people in Ann Arbor will be seeking out a new home for his family and new schools for his kids. And, most important, CLM will have to decide whether he'll wear a white cap with a blue M or a blue cap with a gold M. All of this while he tries his best to fool the media and keep it all under wraps. LSU players watch ESPN and read SI. This soap opera will surely affect their emotions and preparation. And not for the better. Remember, the same scenario was unfolding three years ago as CLM prepared his Okie State team for the Alamo Bowl while negotiating with LSU on the sly. Okie State lost that game to Ohio State, 33-7.
well, his mall is outdoors and sells chickens and goats. around here we call that a flea market.
I maintain that's a ploy (though that might be too strong of a word to describe the situation) to do BOTH, that Carr thinks the best thing for UM is to not hire Miles, and that he is tickled pink that he is able to meet multiple goals with the timing of his announcment. Also, I think it take enormous lesticles to disagree with not one, but TWO women :hihi:.
Re: The 800 pound gorilla in the room! It doesn't matter what he says until Michigan hires somebody...When he was at OK State, he said he wasn't interested in the LSU job when in fact he was holding meetings with LSU officials. I guess there will be distractions no matter what happens.
Re: The 800 pound gorilla in the room! If he's going to take the Michigan job, I would rather an announcement pretty much right now. It's the lesser of two evils. That being said, I'd really rather that Michigan hires someone else in the next couple of days...don't tell me that haven't already been looking.
