Doing it the "right" way in no way negates the possibility that Carr might not want to have Miles coach at UM, will try to have the university hire someone else as his replacement, and knows that the timing of the announcement works in his favor to achieve that goal. I also contend that putting Michigan in the position to try to hire a coach who is -- hypothetically -- preparing to play for the MNC while the season is still going isn't necessarily what's right for UM. Also, I did not have a huge problem with the way Saban left LSU. At the time I wished he'd made up his mind a bit sooner, but the coaching search worked out for the best, IMO. The only time I had a problem with Saban and how he left a program was when he was at Miami and the chewing out he gave the media for daring to ask if he was going to Alabama. Instead of the coach-speak for "yes, I'm considering it but I don't want to get into it now for obvious reasons", he chose to act like a horse's ass. A lying horses ass with no class.
And thanks for fixin' my spelling. I think I use the word thread so much since I found TF it goes into any word that remotely sounds like it!
Re: Jim Carty / Ann Arbor News / Miles the perfect choice. Good Article Well, they played the season and if they would've won their games, maybe they would've played LSU for the championship but they didn't.
I can pretty much assure you that CARR doesn't want MILES to be head coach at UM. I also maintain, that with or without the mitigating factors...and how they affect us...Carr is an honorable man, and is right to do what's best for UM...whether we think it's a ploy or not. I think it's not.
Dandy Don mentioned Rutgers' Greg Schiano in the mix (I guess some announcers said it on Sat as well) for the UM job. Interesting, so I posted a thread on the Rutgers Rivals board. Link HERE. Interesting to see what they have to say. He's got the normal resume' squares filled, and some name recognition.
He's a link to the aftermath from Petrino's last dance with LSU: http://uoflsports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/010305aac.html He stayed two years and then left for the Falcons.
I was just listening to the press conference and a reporter aske coach Carr about Miles and all he did was say that sometimes when you're recruiting it becomes competitive and that he was not gonna answer any of the rumors out there.
