If this report is true: $1 million a year difference between the offers of UM and LSU sure is a lot of money. That's a significant gap. Let me see if I can put some perspective on it:

Your current employer is paying you $18 an hour and you're excelling and happy. One of the only other companies in the world that you would jump-ship for is going to offer you $25 an hour to come do the same job for them. Your current company gets word of this, and offers you $35 an hour to stay put.

Very interested to see how this plays out.

Does anybody feel me on this one?

But then you realize that making $25 and hour is worth maintaining a tradition (and possible moving up in $ and presidential opportunities with the company) that has been passed down to you from your grandpa from when you worked there before... the guy who built the company.

i heard that somewhere. i'd hate to see that. buyouts are in there for a reason. why have one if you're going to wave it unless like i said you're trying to increase the attractiveness of the position to prospective coaches.

that's like letting schools out of scheduling contracts with no repercussions... oh wait.

You forgot to put in there that your current job is at a place that is not home, and you have been waiting for a chance to go home for a few years. Now that makes this more comparable. I personally take the $25/ hr and go home, and I think Les does the same. I wish him luck and thank him for the years he has given us.

I've heard that one of the biggest power brokers at LSU is Dr. Lombardi, who came from FLA. He has great influence on who will be our next coach should Les leave. He has ties to Spurrier from his days at FLA. That is one of the reasons Spurrier's name has been floated. Spurrier, Saban, Del Rio still lead the pack. Bertman is a lame duck and does not have the same clout he once did. Remember, coaches don't get hired without the approval of the higher ups. Do you really believe Bertman hires a search firm and then submits one name to be ratified this time without knowing who will or won't be approved? There is a power struggle between the "big wigs" of the system with big boosters putting in their 2 cents and backing their favorite candidates. It wouldn't be LA if it weren't political, would it?

That's exactly what I was thinking.
