Michigan is desperate to win again but lacks any kind of identity. The right guy is not going to be the "Michigan Man" (like Hoke) and they have a hard time accepting anyone from the outside without a meltdown situation (like Rich Rod). That program is torn between needing to win and wanting to keep it in the family. It is a near impossible situation.
I can think of a number of coaches that would call LSU their dream job. About the same number as Fla had throwing their names into the hat for its job. Just a guess, they didn't get the names they wanted, how about last year with UTx, think they thought Strong was their guy from the start, but wait, "This is Texas!" Texas can get anyone they want! Florida can get anyone they want. LSU can get anyone they want. A good coach knows what he got. Some use an interview to up their pay. As for Dream Jobs, I often tell this story. Right after Notre Dame and O'Leary thing broke, I called a friend in the profession. I called a coaching friend an asked what he was doing. Redoing my resume. You in on another job? Nope, after the O'Leary deal, everyone of the staff was doing the same thing. Calling schools, seeing if there info was the same as his. Date's, times, coaches, etc. Like he said, he didn't want to get a "dream job" and let them find something on the resume that didn't add up.
Those idiots need to get it though their pointed heads that Meecheegan is no longet the national brand that it once was. Stop worrying about whether the coach is a "Michigan Man" and just go out and hire the best coach who is willing to take the job. If they hadn't run RichRod off they might have actually beaten the Luckeyes by now.
Sure, just like I said, the same guys that put in for the Florida job, they would call LSU a "dream job." I can give you a couple real quick, Bo, Muschamp and Hoke to name a few, this would be a dream job for anyone of these guys. Right now, they are looking for a job and would call LSU a dream job, sign a 15 year contract at the drop of a hat, if no one drops a hat, they would.
It's obvious schools can't just pull anyone they want. Texas has about as much to offer than any school In the nation, it's in a great town and has it's own television network, in a recruiting hotbed, and they couldn't pull Saban away from gumpville. If Miles goes to Michigan I think it's realistic to think LSU will fall into the gutter for a few years at the least, maybe even a decade or 2 if the right coaches aren't found. If 10 wins a season don't satisfy this fanbase nothing will except a national championship every other year.
Not necessarily. LSU's fanbase is basically just regular middle class people and we might have a few rich and powerful boosters but not the way it is in Austin. When we rant nothing gets done about it. When billionaires rant heads will roll. Coaches know they not only have to win at UT, they have to be ass kissing politicians too. Nobody was better at kissing asses while winning a few ballgames than Mack Brown.
