Someone in the Florida coaching thread mentioned the phrase "dream job", and it was the perception for awhile the Michigan was Les' dream job. We always knew Saban, when he was here, was just waiting for the call for the NFL. Even in DiNardo's early seasons when he was on the upswing, there was always talk that Notre Dame was his dream job and that he would bolt for South Bend if the call came. If (and I don't think its happening) Miles were to take the UM job, is there any up and coming coach out there who might perceive LSU as his "dream job?"
I've pondered this a time or two over the past few weeks as it became apparent that the Michigan job would be open again. To be honest, I can't come up with a name that really gets my juices flowing. I like the guy at Michigan St., Charlie Strong at Texas is a good coach, David Shaw from Stanford is another name that comes to mind. That said, I don't think there is a sure-fire, sexy pick out there. I'd like to keep Miles personally. That Arkansas game was hard to stomach but they looked a lot better in the A&M game and I have to believe the next two years could be special with the kids we have in-house right now. That said, if Miles bolts then we go through the recruiting season a little disjointed, we go through new schemes, and I think it would hurt more than help.
No, please get it right. I am not distraught over LSU finished ranked in a rebuilding year. And I don't worry at all today over fears of what the future might bring. Here is the deal, Hombre. I'm glad you can foresee the future, I'd like to talk with you about a few items on NASDAQ. I cannot foresee the future but when all of those bad things actually happen, then I will share your pain. Meanwhile it's just life in the SEC West and I'm pretty good with it. We have better years and worse years, just like most teams. Our good years are very good--#1, BCS games--and our bad years are still pretty good, Top-25 stuff. We just finished with the #2 ranked recruiting class, played 18 of them, and those rookies will be veterans next year. Les and Cam know the offensive shortcomings this year better than most do and I suspect that there will be a more balanced pro-style offense coming next season if the QB talent blossoms. Time will tell. Have a beer and relax.
I like to swing for the fences. I'd take Mullen at 750-1. In fact, I just might. $100 bucks to win $75,000. that's not bad.
Nice Terry, but guess what, Mullen is still below .500 at MooU, if he had won every game this season, he would still be below .500.
I know. I've found it odd people keep putting his name in the hat for jobs that are coming open in this cycle. The only explanation I can come up with is those that are lauding him don't realize the roster he's been fielding this season and how heavy it was on upper-classmen. Bulldog fans will realize this quickly next season, I suspect, while others will use some cliche' like "one hit wonder."
