islstl....now that all this nd-mich rematch bs is being force fed to us by the media...what do you think the chances are of the Rose taking LSU?
here's something...don't know how credible this is though http://www.post-trib.com/sports/150619,irish.article "Here are some predictions for the BCS games: Sugar Bowl Notre Dame vs. Arkansas: Sugar Bowl officials view the Irish as a must-have team. And after that bad loss to USC, Notre Dame should feel fortunate to be considered so highly. The Rose Bowl folks could consider the Irish, but bowl officials said they want to avoid rematch scenarios. With Michigan likely headed to the Rose Bowl, that pretty much rules out Notre Dame. The Sugar Bowl automatically takes the winner of the Southeastern Conference championship game, assuming that team isn't in the national title game. Expect Arkansas' Razorbacks to win a close one against Florida's Gators to earn the bid and a date with the Irish"
Well thats what this Indiana newspaper is saying. But it lacks any credible refrence so it can't be taken as fact, just speculation. But I am liking that an Indiana paper believes ND is to the Sugar. Hell, I would probably even go see LSU/Arkansas vs ND.
hmmm, heres another publication claiming to have INSIDE INFORMATION (As Michael Smith would say) http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061127/SPORTS02/611270349 "Michigan is a lock to replace Big Ten champion Ohio State in Pasadena, yet Irish insiders feel the Sugar Bowl is Notre Dame's most likely BCS destination if USC finishes No. 2. Notre Dame (10-2) fell to 10th in this week's BCS rankings and probably won't guarantee itself an automatic BCS berth with a top-eight finish. But the Irish, with their storied tradition and unmatched national TV appeal, need only to finish in the top 14 to be selected as a BCS at-large team." " "(Rematches are) something the BCS likes to try to avoid," Rose Bowl chief executive Mitch Dorger told the Los Angeles Times. "We are mindful of that. There are a lot of factors to consider." One of them is this: Louisiana State fans have tickets, will travel. According to Skip Bertman, LSU's athletic director, the school's fan base already has committed to buying more than 15,000 tickets if the team earns its first Rose Bowl invitation when the BCS bowl matchups are unveiled Sunday."
strange...these guys are saying if Rutgers win the Big Least it will be Rutgers vs Mich.....if Rutgers loses its LSU vs Mich. http://www.presstelegram.com/sports/ci_4727305 "Rutgers presents a rare opportunity to put a team from the east and greater New York in the game. Penn State was here in 1995, but represented the Big Ten. Pitt was here in 1937 (and three previous years), but they hail from Western Pennsylvania. One truly has to go back to 1934 when Columbia played Stanford to find a team from the east. Before that, Navy played in the Rose Bowl in 1924, Washington and Jefferson (near Pittsburgh) in 1922, and Ivy Leaguers Harvard (1920), Penn (1917) and Brown (1916) in the early years. The betting line here says it's Rutgers if they win the Big East, and LSU if they don't. "
That's like Kirk Herbstreit and his inside info that the entire population of Morgantown, WV plus some would buy tickets to a bowl. Lol that queer said that they would bring more people than us, yet the number he gave equaled our student body.
That look was priceless. Herbstreit is getting ridiculous as of late. No one travels any better than LSU.
