As I've stated before, in my 37 years on this greenish-blue orb, I've encountered my fair share of Michiganites (Michiganers?)...and I have yet to find one who WASN'T an a-hole. I blame it on something in the water.
Hilarious!!! I'm a Buckeye fan and can't agree more! They're so full of themselves it makes me sick! Then again, I could be biased as they are our rivals. Its threads like this that make me feel that Ohioans aren't the only ones who feel that way about Michiganders. I'm afraid to ask, but what are your opinions of tOSU fans? I'm hoping that its at least a little better than scUM.
You seem ok. Since we haven't played Mich in football, i'm shocked at their hatred towards us. Or is it jealousy?
i really don't think its jealousy, heck they've won enough titles and they just won one 6 years ago. I think Michigans fans are like the rich guy you see driving down the road in an $80,000 car. So stuck on themselves that they don't even want to look the other way.
I just visted their site (shitty site) and I found them to be well informed and not too offensive towards us or OU. Nothing unexpected at least. They seemed more concered about USC. Michigan will beat USC though. To linkja35: Welcome ot Tigerforums. I consider OSU fans to be like most every college football fan I have ever met. You love your team through thick and thin. You believe they are the best program in football. These are good things. Last week I asked a graduate of Michigan, who happens to be enrolled at LSU now (doing post grad work in chemical eng.) why Michigan fans are so full of themselves. His response: "Michigan has won more college footabll games than any team in history, they have the highest winning percentage of all time, they play in the biggest stadium, everybody knows the fight song and they have the best uniforms". After I stopped laughing.......I said: "Just beat USC.....OK?"
My mom is from Michigan and i spent every summer up their when i was a kid from Louisiana. They like to look down on us southerners cause they won the Civil War yaknow. Biggest bunch a losers ive ever seen and i have a cousin that went to U Of M. Must say a pretty state in the summer but who in their right mind could tolerate all the Yankees year round. A few good places to visit but you dont live there. Geaux Tigers
I think Sourdoughman hit the nail on the head. They think that if you're not a UM fan, then you're inferior regardless. They will find some way to spin things so that you feel belittled. I guess its just something that I've gotten used to and grown to put up with. I have no idea why they'd have any hard feelings with LSU - the only thing I can think of would be Saban - I think that MSU beat UM a couple times when he was there and spoiled a couple of good seasons.
Very typical response. Try to bring up any other factors (like saying that tOSU has the best winning percentage since 1928 or any other year since then) and they go ballistic. Truth be told, they claim to have dominated the series against tOSU and hold an overall mark of 57-37-6; however take away the fact that UM dominated the Buckeyes (when OSU's team was more or less a club team) before 1915 winning the first 15 or so matchups. Since then, its been pretty darn even. Mention that to them and most UM fans don't know what to say or refer back to the overall mark.
it's pretty sad that they live that far into the past. Who's the best in the last 20 or so years? none of us were around for the civil war or the first games, so that shouldn't be of any concern. I had no idea they were so infatuated with themselves. It's kinda sickening. Kind of like St. Thomas More in lafayette. But, at least, Michigan has won something
So basicly, Michigan fans are the northing version of Alabama fans: always living in the past and pointing to the number of national titles they've won.
