i would almost argue that a pop musician that sells lots of records is almost necessarily not that great, but more of a media created fraud. like britney spears or madonna. more publicity than talent, that is what sells. the same effect is less true with rock bands. zeppelin is part hype, but they are actually good. they play instruments and are good musicians. of course there are still some jonas brothers type bands who will sell huge with no talent. there is no comparison between a person like brian may or jimmy page and michael jackson. and every member of rush is infinitely more talented than jackson. jackson is talented at creating hype. recap: MJ= no talent ass clown child molester lunatic

There are only 2 artists who have sold a Billion records or more, Elvis and the Beatles (plus another 200 million solo sales). There are 2 more artists who have sold more than 500 million--Jackson (750,000) and Bing Crosby (550,000). The Floyd, Zeppelin, Elton John, The Stones, Bob Marley and about 2 dozen others have sold 200 to 500 million records. Madonna and about 3 dozen others have sold 100-200 million but dear Britney has sold a paltry 80 million.
MJ was very talented in his heyday. His talent was largely created and developed. From early childhood he was totally immersed is the music world. A truly natural born world-class talent is exceedingly rare, especially in the 'arts'.
