or the american soldiers that die all the time. or the 9 folks who died in the washington subway crash, most of whom probably were not child molesters.

or the 69 folks killed by a suicide bomber in iraq june 24th.

or the iranians dying protesting for freedom, each one of which has done 1000x times more for the world than jackson.

i am not sure why, but celebrity deaths always irritate me a little. the pretense that we have lost something seems so absurd.

    +1

I believe we are not truly mourning them, but more so the times that we lived in that we enjoyed their entertainment.

We never really ever know famous people.

It's sad that we even pretend to.

maybe i dont get it. cause i just never did get into his music. so i wont debate that part cause to each his own.

but for the rest, he was a pedo and a freak of nature. and i dont mean that in a good way.

when i heard the news he died of a heart attack (or at least thats what the early reports i heard while listening to the radio on my way home today said) my first thought was "what kind of drugs was he on that did that to him?"

    it is what it is.

Martin, I'm with you on celebrity deaths...but their opinions irritate me even moreso because it's obvious that they themselves revere their own opinions more than any other person (who's probably more knowledgable) just because their more famous than you.

Who really values the opinion of the midget guy from fantasy islands opinion on global warming. Remember Marlon Brando championing Native American isues at the Academy awards? Not to demean the issue, but that smacked of egoism and self aggrandizement.

I do like it however when porn stars run for public office...like that one in Italy. Watch out Vitter!!

Not particularly sad about his death, he did everything he could to be a freak and a child molester.
    But,
He was the greatest entertainer of my generation. I watched a few of his videos on MTV, especially Thriller and PYT. After that it was back to the NBA draft.
RIP to the little old white lady

Some say Oprah is a great entertainer but I hope she is next.

I like Norm McDonald, not in SNL but ad lib or just sitting at a bar. I think the dude would be a great tailgater.

I'm constantly amazed at how quickly Al Sharpton can find a microphone.
