i have heard that in some places poor children have been reduced to scribbling "merry christmas" on "season's greetings" paper cups with crayon stubs they found in dumpsters. is there no one these infidel bastards will not hurt? it is time to take the power pack. i'm talking jihad, yall.
Now you're just being silly. The debate was whether it was OK for them to start stripping the reference from things that Christmas has been traditionally a part of. Not whether or not there should be more of it than there already is. Stay with me here.
and the answer is that it is ok for private businesses to reference whatever they want as much or as little as they want. like i said before, there is no debate. this is nothing new.
And my answer to that is it is ok for me not spend my money at places I feel care more about being "PC" than what is the truth. The truth is that this holiday is about the birth of Christ. The truth is that when this time of year was designated as a holiday they intended for it to celebrate Christ. Let them call it a "holiday tree". I'll buy mine somewhere else. As a matter of fact, I did.
and that is a perfectly cromulent opinion. so again, there is no debate, not problem, only free market commerce. stores trying not to offend anyone such that they go shop somewhere else. it doesnt always work, and sometimes the saltys of the world shop where the feel comfortable with how much jesus is available. everyone is happy.
Like the stores really care if the 12 people that celebrate some other holiday tradition go somewhere else to shop. This whole thing is about removing Christ from the mainstream and you know it. They took a gamble this year and figured that we wouldn't care or notice. I believe they received a wake up call. They'll push a little harder next year, and the next, and keep pushing until Christ and God are removed from every aspect of our daily lifes. My job is to ensure that it is not too easy for them.
Ladies and Gentlemen: This thread has been going around in circles, but it has a purpose. The purpose is tolerance. Martin and the rest of the liberal progressives want Christians to be tolerant of other religions and the things that they believe are important. I find this very funny because they (progressives) are not tolerant of Christians. Every chance they get they try to take Christianity out of society or just simply discredit it. I find it even funnier that they love to call Christians hypocrites. Huum now that’s funny. So the next time you liberals see “Merry Christmas” in a store or a Nativity scene on the courthouse lawn, take your own words of advice and be Tolerant!
if there is one thing i dont care about it is tolerance. i am not a liberal progressive and i am intolerant of all religions. i think every unPC thing you could think of, including all minority stereotypes. two of my favorite words are nigger and faggot. i hope muslims are killed by the thousands on a daily basis. still think i am preaching tolerance? i'm not. i am preaching freedom. your freedom to shop at a store that puts 500 jesuses in the window and screams the 23rd psalm in your ear while you shop. as well freedom of another store to do none of those things. i am only saying that if merchants feel like they want to be non-specific about religious holidays, then thats fine. of course you are free to support or not support these policies with your patronage. yunno, freedom. when they come in your house and take away your crucifix, i will be on your side. but i am not buying your complaints about stores not having enough christian references for your liking.
I won't get much into this subject because religion is always a messy thing. I was raised Agnostic, remain Atheist. You get really sick of being bombarded with Christian imagery your whole life once a year and there is a huge difference to me saying "Happy Holidays" vs "Merry Christmas". It's your right to say to have the Christian imagery but it's also my right to voice displeasure about having to be subjected to it ad nauseam once a year.
