I still think the logo to the left (my avatar) is the best ever. I also like Furcal's avatar. Both were/are great logos. The new one couldn't make the cover of a cereal box- it's horrible.

Agreed and agreed. The inflicting of this new logo on LSU is a huge gaffe by the athletic department. Unfortunately, they spent so much money on it that they won't flush it down the toilet for years.

I totally agree, I think the new logo sucks.

I am a designer by profession, and graduated from LSU (under the good logo). The only thing the logo needed to be was: easily readable. This one is not. In fact, it looks like something from a Div 1AA school, or mid-major program (just take a look at ESPN, and the other conferences logos) . . . you will find the two worst logos are Ark and LSU (the two schools that changed recently). The reason those other schools have such nice looking logos is b/c you can tell what school it is for right away. Tradiation has something to do with it as well, you see something for 50 years and it becomes part of the school.

The problems with the new logo are many: Too many colors were used in creating the new logo. It is too busy. It has too many lines, which confuse the eye and jumbles the image. It can't be easily proportioned. It looks out of date, and it is only a few years old (think any Arena football uniform).

Sometimes change is good, and in some cases needed. It didn't need to happen here, not with that logo. Even though people are already getting sick of the retro design stuff from the last few years, it works best in college and I can't believe LSU past that option up.

Maybe they are preparing us for a uniform change . . . all purple unis and helmets with black used as the 2nd color, and gold trim. That would fit the new logo perfectly.

I decided to create a more menacing version of the new logo...with the old script...
