There are 16 medical marijuana states. 10 more states with pending legislation. I ask because I got my Oregon card last fall, and it's like a brave new world. It seems like things are really opening up in the west, and was curious of your situation. I'm guessing that the south, and texas, will be the toughest nuts to crack. Alabama is listed as a pending state but I have no feel for the likely hood of its being passed. ? My situation is awesome. I can legally possess, privately consume, and transport within state, 24 ounces. My grower is compelled by state law, to provide me free of charge, 24 oz. of high grade bud per year. I receive 4oz every 2mos The quality is amazing, (it bootlegs for $400 oz around here). Plus, I have this really neat card with a State of Oregon hologram on it. My, stay out of jail free card....it's a Beautiful thing. Anyway, sorry to drag on, I didn't plan on bragging about my situation, I'm more curious about yours. With a minimum of 10,000 state certified Medical Marijuana growers, my sense is that it's pushing the drug lord cartels out of Oregon. That's got to be a good thing, don't you agree?
It was enacted for compassion towards patients, non profit. The grower may sell his extra "meds" to cardholders as reimbursement for certain expenses, (electric bill). There is no paper trail for these reimbursements, leaving the system wide open for abuse. Each grower may have 6 plants per patient, and up to 4 patients. I've gotten friendly with my grower to the point where he's giving me the lowdown, and not just telling me the correct thing . He can make about $30,000 a year selling reimbursements. A lot of husband/wife growers, so double profits. I want pot legalized so this exploitation doesn't bother me, In fact I like it. It takes the drug lords out of the picture.
