both mccain and obama should be pushing for legislation allowing line item veto.

while i believe that line item veto can be misused, its better than an all or nothing policy, imo.

The problem with this thinking is you don't hold your politicians to an integrity test.

I do. Thus why I don't support either McCain or Obama.

It has nothing to do with what I hold politicians to, It has to do with reality. Because the reality is that you can complain about Mccain and Obama until you are blue in the face waiting for the perfect candidate who will turn the country around, but that doesn't change the fact that one of these guys will be president in three months.

And it is the lack of those tests held by the majority who would rather fight over religion and race that I despise. It is that REALITY that will take our country down the tubes.

I don't necessarily disagree, I'm just not one to present a problem without a realistic solution to accompany it.

    solutions?

Voting for clear losers is better? Better to vote for a candidate with some flaws than to waste your vote on a token candidate.

I agree. This is also my main sticking point with Ron Paul. He bad mouths pork and never votes for spending increases, but will put ear marms in legislation and then vote against it.

I guess pretending to have principles is as good as actually having them in DC.

What if they're all idiots? Just kidding; I don't think there are any idiots on the ballot. But every one of them is a politician, and that means you should take every utterance out of their mouths with a boulder of salt.
