She is definately worth consideration, but I suspects McCain wants a younger person. A ticket with two such elderly candidates might be a little too long in the tooth. Not a good image when your opponent symbolized youth.

Good observation. Guess it depends on if the GOP can spin that youth into inexperience and naivity. McCain's only hope is to energize the base (I think Hillary would have done this for him) and pull in more independent voters. He's got an uphill battle and I think VP selection is one of the keys to having a chance at winning it, along with finding a way to highlight BO's limitations w/o ringing the race bell.

    Sadly I agree with you.

Palin might be a good choice but being Governor of Alaska for a few years might not be considered enough experience. If she has a future, the GOP needs to start pimping her now. Sad to say, she WILL be judged somewhat on her looks/image and while she's a former beauty queen and has HRC beat by a mile, she'll need some help in that respect too.

Alaska - where the odds are good, but the goods are - um - odd.

If she can sell it on the tube, she could be a contender. Haven't heard her speak.

Seems to me it has been real solid. He won two elections. Make no mistake about it, these days, the VP is nothing more than someone who helps you win an election. Right or wrong, that's the way it is.

Thankin' you for that clip. Just a hint of the hoe-de-doe Sweedish Chef thing, but not distracting. One day I'll dig up some video of her in a debate - she seems pretty normal, which ain't normal for a politician.

She may be too attractive for some female voters, but then - those ladies wouldn't be voting for her anyway...

McCain has already been put through the Ringer and will continue to be done over the next few months and will have nothing to celebrate except a loss and just another Bush croney.

Jindal would be a moron to get involved with the people that the US population as a whole don't trust.

She is in her 70's. According her own Senate.gov page, she was born on July 29, 1936, making her older than John McCain (born on August 29, 1936). But she is only five years older than Cheney (born January 30, 1941).

I think the best bet for McCain's VP is a good Republican who comes across on the youthful and fresh side.

Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, would be a good choice (before becoming Governor she was city councilwoman, mayor, and a state commissioner). She become the first female governor in Alaska history by defeating two ex-governors of Alaska, including the incumbent (a former long-time US Senator from Alaska). She's got a lot of Republicans excited about being the possible VP candidate. They call her extremely popular, very attractive, a hottie, appealing, down to earth, real, etc. She has extremely high approval rating during her tenure as Governor (among the very best approval ratings of any elected official in American politics). She's young, only in her 40's (the youngest governor in Alaska state in history), and brings a lot of appealing conservative aspects -- her first-born child, her son, is in the U.S. Army, she's an avid hunter and fisher, a life long member of the NRA, her husband is a commercial fisherman, she's dedicated to her family of 5 children, she is strongly pro-life, strongly for marriage between man and a woman, etc. Someone noted above that her youngest child has Down syndrome, but she has said that being a loving mom to her 5th child will not interfere with her political duties. I read an article pointing out that her child with Down syndrome would be a plus for her as McCain's VP, assuming that pro-life issues, sanctity of life issues, medical ethic issues, etc. play a significant factor is this election (Obama is strongly pro-choice, right?). Besides, she does look like Tina Fey...
