You keep making points without offering any evidence to support it. Look at the three charts at this LINK and tell me what it indicates to you.
It's not a matter of your opinion, amigo. It's a fact. US Ranks Last Among Other Industrialized Nations On Preventable Deaths, Report Shows U.S. Infant Mortality Among Worst in Industrialized Nations US HEalth System Last Among Industrialized Nations.
Indicates that we spend a lot on HealthCare. And the point is? I would like to know where their numbers are at. Are we including the cost of those that don't have insurance in there? Are we including the cost of medicaid and medicare in there? What exactly is included.. Maybe we have a higher population that spends on healthcare.. Maybe we dont'.. The chart is no good without more info. I will gladly pay my $200 for health insurance each month. If you think that is too much to pay for your own health then look at your car payment.
My wife had to become a case study in France because the nations leading foot and ankle guy destroyed what was there in an effort to suppress what his credits were saying against his claims. In the end he was the same guy cutting her leg off. He moves on and we live with the results? My statement that this country has more malpractice lawsuits then other countries which regulate their healthcare. it is the result of the many med-mal suits which greatly contribute to the rising cost of healthcare at the same time the benefits are being lowered to avoid payout on those same lawsuits!
CLIC, I feel for you and your wife, I mean that and I wish it didn't have to happen to anyone. Red, one of the greatest things about this country is the ability to leave it. Or run for office and maybe you and all your "links" can make it better. Being such a liberal I highly doubt it. I'll stand with my opinions and the greatest country on earth. Amigo.
The point is that we spend FAR more than other industrial countries and get less back in real terms of life expectancy, unneeded deaths, and infant mortality. We are not getting what we pay for in this country. The health industry is out of control in regards to pricing. I just had to get a motorized wheelchair for my elderly mother. It ain't that sophisticated a device, but guess what? The company that sells it lists its price as $15,675.00! You could buy a Harley-Davidson or an economy car for that! Medicare values it at $8,200 and will pay $6,500 for it, leaving $1,700 for us (and her pension insurance policy) to pay. I guarantee that the chair costs no more than $1,000 to construct and should retail for about $2,500. The medical industry is used to making huge markups and it needs to be controlled better. We got no choice of companies, no competitive bids or anything. The doctor wrote the prescription, so Medicare will cover it, so the wheelchair company hoses medicare for too many bucks and leaves patients with very large co-payments.
Typical response by those who fear contrary opinions. One of the great things about this country is the ability to make changes for the better. Do you imagine that criticism of the health industry in this country equals criticism of America? How ridiculous. The facts kind of hurt your argument, don't they? I don't have to run for office, I can vote for candidates that support policies I like. Who is a liberal, you? Ahh, flag-waving and setting yourself and your opinions as patriotic. I'll take that as a resignation. You were about to be checkmated anyway.
Contractual discounts drive the doctor's your insurer will allow you to see. I am normally against government involvement, but it would be wonderful if there was a federally mandated fee schedule. If all insurers had a flat percentage they could disallow on a particular CPT code the consumer would be able to choose his doctor. Today insurer's drive consumers to the doctor's who will take the biggest disallowance. It reduces the level of service most of us can get.
No. There isn't an argument to hurt. As for who is liberal, it's surely not me. However your views and/or bashing of everything that isn't liberal would lead one to believe that you are. As for the health care stuff, I could really care less where you get your "links" and "info". I've been around the world and I've seen how it is in other countries. Like I said, our system isn't perfect but IMO, yes my opinion, I'll take it. Especially over a system where the Gvt is in complete control of it all. Some of you that have never been east of the basin or west of the Sabine and only listen to CNN should try to get out more and maybe your "opinons" would change.
