i think Rivers belongs on there. he's a hell of a QB. im not one to believe that the best player in the nation is always on the best team....personally....i think thats bullshit. the heisman is pretty much a joke anyway. when eric crouch won it...that was it for me and the heisman (it was a long time comin too)
I think the Heisman shouldn't go the best player but the best player on a team that wins. If Mauck puts up average stats but goes 13-0, I give it to him over a 5,000 yard passer whose team went 8-4
Mauck has got to be the most underrated quarterback I can remember. We all need to remember that the guy has only lost one freaking game. He plays within the sytem and the guy just knows winning. His ONLY loss was against Va Tech. If you throw in the SECCG - which he freaking won for us - Mauck is 10-1. Impressive numbers.
I like the idea that our younger, probably more talented QB's are watching a guy like Mauck play QB within the system, doing what he needs to do and not trying to do too much. Mauck is a winner and what he is doing today could set the stage for many years to come for the QB position at LSU. I think he shows what it takes to play QB at LSU. Jimbo Fisher is just a great developer of QB's.
I'm still saying he will get drafted. He is a play maker and you can't teach that. Another thing that can't be taught is poise which Mauck is full of.
Do you think he'd forgo the draft to go to med school like he's been planning if he ends up being a late draft pick? I'd want to make the NFL minimum for as long as I'd be lucky enough to make it if I could.
what's the MINIMUM salary in the NFL right now? Now compare that to God knows how many years as a resident working crazy hours. Yeah he'll go pro.
Yeah I guess thats an easy choice. As long as he didn't get Muhammad Ali'd in the NFL he'd still be smart enough to do med school when hes done in the pros (and with plenty enough cash to fund it) if he still wanted to.
There's Bengal B with all that Heisman history again. I like what everyone is saying about Mauck. He is playing within in his ability and that will enable the Tigers to keep winning. But I agree, let's not see anymore Eric Crouch or Danny Wuerffel or Paul Hornung Heisman winners. Talk about injustice...
