I don't know where you getting any of this from. Perhaps it's your visceral reaction to someone having the audacity to question someone else in power. That's ok. I've come not to expect rational discourse with you anymore. It's all about the opportunity to bash someone else. Get. A. New. Gig.
What about them? Is there some common thread linking them to this particular one? I don't think that anyone here is contesting that they know more than the coaches. No need to spend time on such an elementary and conversation-defeating idea.

OMG he threw and interception?!?! When we were already getting our brains beat in??? Great point, JR never does that. No decent QB does. What was I thinking?

Did Flynn really do anything against Miami to earn the starting spot outright for next year? Granted he played a very good game, but was it really that special?

He completed 13 passes for 194 yards. I know he was very efficient, but that is not the kind of numbers that make me say "Holy s&%t, this guy's unstopable."

The reason we killed Miami was A) the defense played lights out B) the O line played their best game in 2 years and C) Joe Addai ran like a man possessed.

It really didn't matter who played QB that night. Hell, they could have played Welker or RP and LSU still would have won by at least 20.

My point is that although I think Flynn is a good QB and can lead LSU to all its goals, I think JR can do the same. To give up on Russell just because Flynn happened to start the Peach Bowl is ridiculous.

The only thing Flynn earned that night is a chance at open competition in the spring for the starting job. I'm confident that whoever the coaches choose to start against ULL will be the right person.

By the same logic, can you say the same thing about Russell? Yeah, he bailed us out of some close games at the last second. But I really don't think our backs would have been up against the wall like that had we gotten better play from him the rest of the game. I believe that MF showed me a lot of things in the game that you won't see in practice...the situations just don't allow for it. The ability to run, make good decisions, stay calm with defenders in your face, check off recievers, are all extremely critical in being a great gametime QB, moreso than arm strength. Those are also things that stats will not reflect. Do you know who the all-time NCAA passing leader is? Timmy freaking Chang. How's he doin' these days? Inflated QB stats usually only signify a one-imensional offense.

I don't necessarily disagree. That is why I don't think anyone should be given the starting job in February. Let them battle it out in practice. I still think the coaches will choose the one who will provide the best chance at winning. I do not think as fans we can sit at our computer screens an definitively say one is superior to the other.

I don't believe I've made such an assertion. Clearly, the team and coaches have a number of things to execute before making such a decision. This is my opinion of which QB I think is a better fit, not a demand for Miles to name the starter. Who even knows if Russell will be healthy?
Henceforth, the reasoning most universities have gotten away from this sort of coaching system. Seriously, that is such an over-reaching statement. No, we can't make coaching decisions, but we can have opinions that we feel are well-substantiated. Isn't that all what we're doing here, anyway? I mean, if this is true, then I guess we can't say that we can make any judgments about sports since we're not the coaches, right?

Jemarcus won games.....more than 10 games! Yes I believe Matt Flynn should be the #1...but no coach will demote the starter because of an injury. Matt Flynn will have his chance to impress the coaches during this offseason. I hope he is the number 1 but I dunno if he will or not!LSU!

This is a very well written article.

<<<If it was among the players, Russell would win in a landslide based on what he has already done. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher and head coach Les Miles would have the deciding votes, and believe me, they see Russell as the clear starter. Coaches and players tend to gravitate to players who have done it over players who have done it once or have the talent to do it. This is why an LSU player stuffed the talkative Perrilloux into a locker on one of the first days of practice last season.

"We wouldn't be anywhere without him," Fisher said before a practice the day before the SEC Championship Game in December as he pointed to Russell. "He's the real deal.">>>
