Matt Flynn will start next season...

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

I really have no idea. The OL was a giant anomaly this year. Tons of experience, size, and brains. All the ingredients were there, they just could not pull it together. I really do hate to use the hurricanes as excuses, but if you look at how well they played against such a dominant defense in the Peach Bowl, it kind of seems like that might have been it.

Consistency? Flynn played one game, amigo.

You make a flawed observation based on a sample size of one.

So you weren’t convinced after MM beat Tennessee in the SECCG that year?

In one game, however, MF showed the ability to do things that JR hasn't in the umpteen games he's started.

Remember that little dump-off/screen pass to Addai on the touchdown? Matt had a couple of defenders RIGHT in his face. No way in hell JR completes that pass.

He hasn't won ten games--Russell has.

You don't know this. You are just guessing. We can argue till the cows come home about a player's talent.

But I know one thing for a fact--you can't judge a player's consistency on a single game. Russell won every SEC road game last year, Flynn hasn't even played an SEC team.

He hasn't had that opportunity. This isn't baseball where a single player is credited with the win or the loss. It's no secret that defense bailed JR out many times this year. Experience means nothing if you don't learn from it, something that it appears Russell has a problem doing.
It ain't 'guessing' when it's based off of numerous observations. I guess you could call it a hypothesis.
True. But he did beat the dogsnot out of a defense on a par with, or even better than, an SEC defense.

Based on what? Their reputation. Their defense was on a par with no team in the top 5 of the SEC. You're suddenly enamored with Flynn because he looked good against an historically top program. Miami was snuffed out by an inspired LSU football team with something to prove. They would not have lost with JR in there. They might not have lost with me in there.

No. Statistics, speed, etc. Yunno, the things that earned them their reputation.
Now, it's your turn. What do you base this on?
I'm suddenly enamored with him because the things about JR that drive me up the GD wall because he refuses to (or can't) fix them did not happen in that game. I'm amazed that MF has such a firm grasp of so many things having so little experience. I'm equally amazed that JR showed such little improvement on these same things with so much experience.
What are you saying? That he didn't do a good job? That he didn't play a cleaner game than JR has ever had? I never thought that much could even be doubted.

If you're not sold on MF because it was one game, that's fine. But I don't see how you can say that JR should start just because he started last year.

Oh, I thought the ellipsis indicated a second part of the sentence inside the thread.

    Like this:

Matt Flynn will start next season...

...sitting 3rd on the depth chart, believe it or not.

    There, much better. :thumb:

It's not my call, but, JR started last year and JR will start next year, assuming a full recovery. Don't complain to me. Complain to the coaches.
