You may be right NavyTiger, if JR's rehab from the wrist surgery isn't where it should be. Aren't we lucky to have someone so talented to fill in for him??
Because I don't think he'll allow a player to loose his starting job due to a "one game" injury. This may have been different had this injury occurred early on. JR won't lose the job, MF will have to win it. Regardless of how the spring and summer camps go, Miles won't pull the trigger until MF earns the job on the field during game play (Peach Bowl won't count, see above paragraph). Imagine the race cards hitting the fan with a white QB replacing a black one when a season ending injury is not involved (assuming both are healthy at the start of the season), especially with JR's impressive stats. For this reason MF will have to win the job much more impressively than what would normally be necessary. Again, had JR's injury occurred earlier, MF would have had several more games to show his stuff and winning the job would not have been as difficult.
Not exactly, it's a matter of guessing how Miles will decide who the best player is. Will Miles will want to see off the field leadership from MF over the course of a spring or summer? The offense was sloppy all year and then looked so crisp against the Miami D, does Miles think that MF was the reason? There's so many ways to look at this.
The most interesting thing was Whiteworth indicated he was quite impressed with MF running the huddle after the Peach Bowl game. Of course, for the Peach Bowl, it was a difficult thing to sort out as everybody upped their game. ________ 7M-GE
