John David Booty is a very good example of what could happen. (I'm not saying we have a bunch of heisman winners sitting in front of RP) An extremely talented highly recruited QB who probably won't see the field until very late in his college career.

RP hasn't even competed with JR or MF. That starts Thursday, up until now RP has been working with the incoming freshmen with a few varsity tossed in (and I might add everyone who's seen him has said he looks good). He won't be able to overcome the playbook deficit this year, but I'd be surprised if he redshirted. Next year he's going to push someone hard, whether JR is here or not.

He came to LSU b/c he knew the competition is fierce...

This drives him people... He really thinks he is the next great thing... so he thinks he can do anything... And to this point in his career, he has been right... Can he do it at the next challenge?

And Russell/Flynn get 50/50 reps in practice... so, it truly is up in the air as to who the starter may be...

I am told it isn't anything bad about JR, it is just that Flynn is playing super well

That's a good point. Going to Miss St. would have given him the oppertunity to go out and play football without looking over his shoulder. He could have prepared himself for the NFL and almost gauranteed that he would become a top-5 draft pick. But instead, he chose to join a distinguished program which will make him much more of a team player than at Miss St. He chose to go after a national title, rather than soak up his own greatness. This, in the long run, will better prepare him for the NFL. He's already shown that he is selfless just by comming to LSU, so let's give him his due and give him a chance, but not at the expense of losing this year. If putting him in the game is impossible, then so be it. If, yes, IF LSU loses a couple games, he has to be given the reigns to this team.

But at the same time, he showed that he loves his own ego, by holding out so much on Texas... it works both ways...

You can say that, but he's not the first one to change his mind at the last minute. He even said weeks before that his decision was up in the air, he just never changed it from what it was a year before.

I agree... It will either be his team, or it won't be...

Wins and losses won't affect it at all, b/c JaMarcus and Matt will both be back...

    AND

You still have to win to recruit...

This isn't an NFL, "Let's get a good draft-pick" situation

What makes you think you know so much? Did you look into your crystal ball and see what's going to happen? I've been giving situations that may occur in the future, but you think you've already written it.
