Eh, it's still technically a gun death. That's probably how I would off myself.

Oh you are right, but gun deaths are, in some years, 60% of all gun homicides.

Its misleading but does raise the point, its the people. Yes, a gun makes it easier to off yourself.

Let me put it to you like this:

If we took away your gun so you couldn't use it to kill yourself, would that end your depression or suicidal thoughts? The answer is about 99% NO.

The rest of the deaths are mostly gang violence related and also restricted to key major cities.

I had a history professor give this very compelling reason. From the beginning of the population of the US , many of the immigrants were people who didn't fit into the more ordered societies of Europe. They were independent and less likely to follow norms. They were also as a rule more violent. Those types continued to leave the east coast and spread west. In addition guns and the ability to use them and ability to kill was critical to survival of our ancestors who tamed the wilderness and the wild men who flocked there to escape the strictures of society. Everything about our society is influenced by this background. This Independence and refusal to conform is ingrained in the society. Unfortunately a relic of this is we have a tendency to violence that some don't control. Guns are the vehicle it's what's inside that is the key.

i don't find the opinion of one stupid person convincing.
    She's full of shit.

Regarding the much-touted gun control laws of Britain and Australia, Libresco found that "neither nation experienced drops in mass shootings or other gun-related crime that could be attributed to their buybacks and bans."

    She found no such thing.
