By thi logic LSU should be undefeated every year...And if Tressel is so good, then how come Ron Zook has his number??...A guy that couldn't even cut it in the SEC...You're right he's surrounded by much talent at LSU, but it's not like we've underachieved with Miles...Do you know that Miles is the only coach with three consecutive 10 win seasons at LSU??? Saban only had one in a year.

I used to think that depth was our biggest advantage, but now I'm convinced that Miles is our biggest advantage...Everybody keeps underestimating him and he just finds ways to win games...The trademark of a good coach is that he wins the close games, just look at John Brady.

That Tulane game sticks out in my mind- how ironic it was also in the dome, and last year we owned the first half. Deep down, I believe our Sr. leadership won't let that happen, especially with our loss to Arky so fresh in their minds and they don't want to feel that emptiness again, knowing what it feels like to stare "No National Championship" in the eyes. What I mean is, at that moment, we'd lost the National Championship.

As fate would have it, we get a second life and they don't want to live that disappointment twice in one season.

And I hope you're right! :thumb:

    OK,
Zook beat Tressel once--I wouldn't call that having his number. Would you say that UK, Arkansas, or even UT for that matter has the same talent y'all have?? A more pointed question...what will you say IF LSU loses to OSU??? Depth is your biggest advantage--why do you think there were some down years in the 1990s--all of your talent left and went elsewhere (Marshall Faulk, Eric Bieniemy, and Johnathan Wells (maybe) types left the state). Now that talent has stayed (started with Saban really--maybe Dinardo a bit) and the level of play is top notch. If anything, I might say Miles is a decent recruiter, but how many of your 25 seniors were recruited by Miles???

You're right, Zook beat Tressel once...Now that you bring up the fact that LSU's seniors weren't recruited by Miles...Let me remind you that Florida's seniors that destroyed your team were recruited by......Ron Zook....Thanks for making my point.

    Have a great night!

This was posted a while back by red. It shows Miles' recruiting is right in there with Saban's. Also, I'm tired of posting the numbers of kids who were drafted while Saban was here but were already on the roster before he coached one game- Retardo was a great recruiter. Get your facts straight, they're borderline flames.

    the stars-per-player ranking:

    2007 -- 3.77 (#4) Les
    2006 -- 3.64 (#4T) Les
    2005 -- 3.69 (#4) Les
    2004 -- 3.54 (#5) Nick
    2003 -- 3.68 (#2) Nick
    2002 -- 3.23 (#15) Nick

IMO, we are better than tOSU when we play aggressive and focused.

It's almost like watching 2 different teams. There are times when we drive the ball right down the field and put 7 points on the board, and there are times when our D looks dominant.

Then there are other points in the game where we look either sluggish, or unfocused. Most of the time, we've played poorly in the 1st half.

Having said that, I think there are 2 keys to this game for us:
    1) Solid QB play early; if Flynn/ RP throw a few completions in the 1st qtr and we're able to put more than 3pts on the board
    2) Good solid tackling; missed tackles lead to big gains and in many cases, long time-consuming drives

Bottom line: Neither Mark May, nor anyone else knows how this game is going to turn out. We (LSU and tOSU) don't share any common opponents and play in 2 completely different conferences. These analysts are making predictions based on tOSU performance in last year's title game, and our performance vs Va Tech and Florida from this year.
