What's really amusing is that William Randolph Hearst actually admitted to running completely fabricated articles in his newspapers about the effects of the drug some years later. And people STILL believed it. Sad and gullible world we live in...:dis:
I want to hear some more arguments for the reasoning behind why it's illegal... Where are all those who were so passionate to condemn Wroten in the den?
Don't expect any rational ones. Like I said, the people who try to reason against it have no experience with it, and are limited to regergitating (sp?) outlandish and cliche' theories pushed on them in their middle-school Phys Ed classes, like good little sheeple.
Since Bengal Buddy appears to not want to come here, I'll just quote him from the other thread. I am not denying that the use of marijuana is harmful. Nor am I denying that abusing it destroys lives. However, I bet you don't apply this argument to alcohol. It's harmful & when abused it destroys lives. The legality of it hasn't changed anything. The illegality of marijuana sure as hell hasn't stopped people either. No theories & statistics necessary, just logic. A few people here have said that they do not use marijuana but don't care if it's legalized...
It's difficult to defend. I think most rationale people understand that pot is no worse than nicotine and alcohol. In fact, many realize that nicotine and alcohol are more dangerous than pot b/c they are addictive drugs.
I disagree. Ever seen an alcoholic go through detox? They are definately physically dependent on alcohol.
I think, not sure, but I think that those are physical signs from mental addiction. The same thing can happen from marijuana, and they say that it carries no physical dependency.
Having come from a bloodline of alcoholism on one side of the family, I can tell you first hand that weed does not destroy lives, but alcohol certainly and easily can. In fact, the use of alcohol for a much shorter time can destroy lives. Think about all the bad decisions people make when they're drunk...getting behind the wheel, getting into fights, being taken advantage of, not to mention all the other stupid things people get the cajone's to do when they're loaded. When you're high, you simply don't feel like doing any of those things. How many times does a high person get in a fight? It's impossible.
Not true. Unfortunately, I have some experience with alcoholics. Here's a description of alcoholism from wikipedia ... Alcoholism
