since its only been mentioned 10 times, its worth noting, Spurrier isn't anywhere on the list. did anyone notice? nor bowden or paterno. Im shocked no one noticed.
I think this list is the best current coaches. You guys keep saying how Bowden, Paterno, etc are certainly some of the all-time best coaches, and they certainly are. But if I was starting a team and had my pick of coaches, i would NOT pick one of those two to do it, I think they've lost their edge. I would pick Meyer of JoPa or Bowden (And I don't even like Meyer that much). Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden are currently NOT two of the best 10 coaches in the country to me.
We both went 13-0 and both won the SEC. I don't see the difference. I don't think it mattters what any other team did that year, it was beyond Tubberville or anyone elses control. I don't think what another team did during 1998 and 2004 has any bearing on how good Tubbervilles or Fulmers teams were.
Are you actually going to try and argue that tubby has as good a record as fulmer? Good god, shut up and know your place. SEC Titles, 10+ win seasons, National Championships....the list goes on. Your coach just had his first season with 10 wins. When he does it again, get back to us about being a great coach Better question, how does it feel knowing that your own coach wanted your rivals job...Alabama that is....boy that has to suck. :hihi:
No I wasn't trying to compare their records. I was just pointing out that I think your particular argument about the national championship was irrelevent. I know Fulmer has had more 10 win seasons and more SEC championships. Fair enough. I never said Tuberville should be ahead of Fulmer. (Even though I would rather have Tuberville based on the type of kids he recruits...Auburn and LSU have done a good job staying out of trouble...unlike Tennessee.) Oh come on Marine. I know you can do better than that, I've seen it. He was at Ole Miss for goodness sakes, of course he wanted a better job in the SEC. Whether it was Alabama, Auburn, or LSU...a coach would have to have serious ties to Ole Miss to rather stay there.
This whole list is meaningless! A coach is great, and a coach means a lot, but ultimately there is only so much you can do! A lot that separates these guys from 11-20 is LUCK... We had our share for the national title run, and Auburn had their share this year.
All lists are pretty meaningless except to start debate, which is what it was really intended for. But I'd have to say there is more than luck involved in seprating the best coaches.
